He (and Juneau) did this to me, as well, except I was out at the Great Pumpkin Patch at the time with wind, kids, etc, so all I could hear is some background noise and a lot of ravings about awesomeness. :) In some ways, I'm actually glad I couldn't make the bass out too well. :)

He tends to like to do that. In a way, it cracks me up. I mean, what subtle nuances are you gonna hear over a freakin' telephone! And a cell phone at that! AND! AND! Pete has that piece of junk rotary dial, lead acid-batter powered antique on his end of the line! :D

But, the thing is, it always sounds killer, even over the damn phone. Amazing. :cool:

And the cool thing is, Pete honestly seems as excited about these basses as are the end users. :)

His is the single cut Walnut top, with the spanish cedar body that was stained with a reverse burst.

I hope for my sake that the finished ones are still there Friday, but I suppose I wont be too upset if he ships them to their owners lol.

Tom, I agree with you on Pete's attitude toward his basses. He honestly loves each one!:)

If he does, maybe we can just make an appeal to the owners to have them email decent digital pics of their stuff to Pete for the forum, or maybe we can talk Pete into dusting off HIS digital camera to snap some before they go. :)

Okay class, I posted this in the skjoldplayers.com website, but thought it also belongs here too, for those who may be interested.:smug:

I had a chance to play each of the remaining graduates last night. May I first say that, all standing there, it was an overwhelming site to see all those beautiful Skjolds.
Keep in mind that Pete had just put strings on these instruments. They weren't even set up yet!!

G -- Your bass is a P bass on steroids. Very lyrical voice and very responsive. It sounds very old school but with a lot of modern zing from the new strings. Your B string will definitely have the neighbors calling the police!

Joe -- Your bass is a beast! It growls and roars! If you play with a pick, you will DOMINATE on the stage! A very aggressive sounding animal that cannot be tamed even though you have the supposedly sweet Spanish Cedar body on it.

Mr. Greer -- You will LOVE your bass! This is just an old school workhorse that will give you an ear-to-ear smile! Very expressive, even though the electronics are simple. I think Pete is finalizing the circuitry on your preamp. He'll keep you in the loop.

Last, but not least, Bassnotreble -- All I can say is :eek: :eek: :eek: If your bass was a car, this baby would be a Porche! VERY refined and just effortless to play! Because of YOUR BASS, I am seriously considering the bloodwood as a fingerboard. Very even and smooth. This is a bass soloists instrument. If you don't do bass solos, YOU BETTER LEARN HOW QUICK!! Really impressive!

There you have it! I imagine after the setup, these babies will be even more unbelievable. Let me know if you have any questions or if I forgot someone.

Yeah, definitely a lot more meat to this one. Unplugged tone is amazingly different from the ash/maple one for sure. More later after I have a chance to plug it in and hear its voice better.

Looks-wise, tho, definitely one of the "classiest" looking basses I've ever seen. It's kind of a monolithic brown theme, so its beauty doesn't jump out and slap you in the face like my maple one does (being a much brighter theme), but you get a good look at it and it just exudes elegance.
