I am glad that you are digging that mahogany/walnut bass, Vic. Your thoughts very much mirror my own experiences with that bass (which reminds me VERY much of my own mahogany bodied Custom 5, to be honest). That bass - and your PSD5 - will serve you well for years to come. 
And regarding Pete's current/probably status as one of the top bass luthiers, all I can say is that I have been privileged to have been able to play and own some very fine instruments. And while I certainly have instruments which I consider to be the equal of a Skjold (though that list is pretty short!), I don't know of any which I would consider the better of a Skjold. IME/IMHO, Pete is already in some very good company, and he seems to be pushing the envelope further and further every day.

I've heard you (and others) talk about series mode before, but now I actually "get it". Thing is, I had to play in a mix (along with some practice cover material) to really hear how cool it is. Otherwise, solo, it kinda' just generally sounds louder with maybe more mids, but really, it's much more than that.
