The older bridge is the Schaller 463. It is an outstanding bridge. Adjustable for string spacing, intonation and height. IMHO one of the best bridges ever made. These usually come on, as you said, the older Warwicks. The desireable ones. The handmade ones. The ones with the wenge necks. The one with the EMGs.... You get the idea. Having said that the 2 piece bridge is a work of art. There are actually 2 versions. The 1st ones that were made had a brass block under them. The later ones have a less substantial version of the block. The latter is lighter.
Thanks for that. I'm only looking in the Rockbass product range BTW, being a returner to bass. Was a drummer then bassist, then nothing for almost 20 years. I'm on my way back and the Warwick seems better than the Ibanez I played before.
Finally got around to taking a couple of proper pictures of my Katana. Ordered from Warwick back in 2007; had to wait a couple of months for delivery due to the finish. I worked at Guitar Center back then and so paid dealer cost for it; there's no way I would have paid the retail! It's my second favorite bass I've ever owned and I won't be letting this one go. Ever.

It's going to be a while between posts, but I wanted to share a refin project with you all. The bass is a 1991 Streamer Stage I. I got the bass from our very own Jon Kim. He has owned a lot of Warwicks in his young life. The bass plays like I died and went to bass heaven. A place where your action is sublimely low and yet does not buzz. Simply amazing playability. I had a set of Delano pickups installed and that kicked it into I will never sell this bass, ever. With that in mind I wanted to make it a little more "mine". That, and the body was worn in a few places. I am blessed to have as a friend one of the best guitar finishers in the country. Chris Bavaria of Bavaria finishing worked at Paul Reed Smith for 17 years before opening up his own shop. After consulting with Chris I decided on a color. Gretsch orange. Chris is first going to remove the wax using naptha. The body will then get sanded and dings and dents removed. These are the before. Will post the afters in a couple of weeks

The pictures don't do it justice. Cheap camera. A nice camera would show the beautiful wood grain that can be seen through the finish. For anyone wondering if the painting affected the tone the answer is, not in my opinion. The bass sounded great before and it sounds great now. Reassembly and the worlds best set up work was done by Phil and Jay of Philtone guitars in Baltimore MD.

I currently play a Warwick Streamer Stage I, a limited edition model from 1990. I got this bass from a well known Warwick collector in England, giving him a Zon Sonus for it. The Zon was a nice bass but this is just so much more me! I feel very lucky to own it as the bloke I got it from has had stacks of Warwick basses and pared his collection right down to keep only the best, and he kept this one! In the end, a shoulder injury meant it wasn't getting the play it deserved as it was too heavy for him so I luckily managed to pick it up. I've wanted it ever since I saw it!
In terms of playability it is beautiful, and with the Bartolini pickups it just sings. A perfect balance of middy growl with tight lows and sweet, musical highs. It's been my squeeze for a while now, though I still get my ACG Harlot out for a spin when the mood takes me!

Really gassin for one of those 2011 wick streamers in the redwood burl that came out not long ago.
Might have to grab one at some point when one surfaces minty and used slightly.
