The Orville

I thought the "Krill" episode was more than just jokes in space - it really had a deep plot line. There was a presentation of a classic moral dilemma where your only hope of preventing mass genocide is to kill a handful of bad guys, along with the collateral damage of a few innocent people, including children.

I think you just have to keep an open mind on Seth's interpretation of the Star Trek genre, consider the source, would you expect it to be all serious drama ? of course not. So far I'm still entertained, so will see if he can keep it fresh enough to hold peoples interest. I'm still enjoying the Simpsons all these years later.

Just found this thread. I have been watching The Orville since episode one. I like it. Just enough humor but not over the top. Interesting plots. I thought the recent episode about the entire society based on positive and negative likes was very cleaver and topical.

There are a lot of thinly veiled current events and topics being used in this show, some of them work better than others. Gene Roddenberry did this to some degree in the original Star Trek series. I wonder if this is going to keep enough people interested to validate a second season, I guess we'll see
