Hey all,

I wish I could see the shirts - I'm at work & can only view attachments to posts! IMO, you can be cocky if you can back it up. Sure enough, for me, I've never played better. The only bad Pedulla I've ever played was a used Rapture JJ 5 string at the local Sam Ash, which has an AWFUL setup & dead strings (and the same high price for the past 2 years!).

W.R.T the pickups, according to the pedulla website, it seems as if they are identical. From the thunderbolt page:
The Thunderguts switchable circuit adds another dimension to the already devastating tonal range, accessing a thicker character with a tight, articulate low-end and midrange.
Thunderbolt controls include volume, pickup pan, TBT electronics (active tone system with independent bass and treble controls to boost or cut 15dB), and our Thunderguts switch. In conjunction with Bill Bartolini, we designed our own proprietary tone shaping circuits (exclusive to the Pedulla Thunderbass and Thunderbolt) to work with two active Bartolini soapbar pickups.

ahh, thanks for the confirmation on the pups. I still really want to get either a thunderbass or thunderbolt (again) as my next bass. I just have to wait till i have the cash...

You know, and let's not get too deep into this here, because it has been covered in many threads elsewhere...even though a bolt on neck means a cheaper bass because of the lower cost of building that type of bass, some people prefer the sound of a bolt on bass. For example, I have read that the standard Roscoe bass has a bolt on neck due to the maker of those basses feeling that that type of construction obtains the sound he is looking for.

If someone says that they have a Thunderbolt, I do not feel that they have a "cheaper" bass, I simply think that they prefer that sound. So don't simply think that you have to stretch for a Thunderbass just because it is somehow "nicer". In fact, it may not sound as good to you as the Thunderbolt might.

I really think that it is pretty neat that Pedulla has both.

And to take this one step further, Mike P. has stated on several occasions that he thinks the Thunderbolt is his "under the radar" bass and really represents the best marriage of the modern Pedulla design with the vintagey world of classic Fenders. His favorite, and mine too. :cool:

My thinking exactly. I figure that getting used to a fretless will be enough of a challenge, so I might as well have a neck that I'm already familiar with. I have some gear up for sale on eBay right now which should enable me to get a Pentabuzz later this year. :hyper: :bassist:
