The reason why Gibson Thunderbirds are so cool...

Talkbass needs a new section.
"mindless crap" might be a suitable title.

Still beats

"What bass to buy?"

"What is the best bass for metal?"

and my favorite...

"What is the difference between P and J pickups"

As for TBIRDS. I <3 mine, besides for the weight/neck dive it rips on stage and gets a lot of attention and I love the freaking' tone on that thing. Even though is the Epiphone Tbird it still is amazing, I might pickup the Pro version soon.

I've always been pretty incompetent with a pick when it comes to bass playing, but two nonreverse 66's were my main instruments from '74 to '91, fingerstyle. I went to a P to end arguments with recording engineers and frontmen but I always felt like I left a showgirl to have an affair with a dowdy housewife. Btw, if anybody knows of a reifinished black (the last time I saw it) '66 with two headstock repairs and a homebuilt case lined with cowhide and sheepskin, it was stolen in 1977 in Findlay OH. It was insured and I got paid so I have no claim on it but it just occurred to me that someone on here might have seen or owned it since then. Polish it and coo to it for me if so, please.

Thunderbird Studio - no neck dive, still a Thunderbird. But shhh, let it be my secret! :bassist:

Given there are 96,196 threads available within this section of TB, why would you choose to view one of mine if it doesn't suit your needs? Derogatory comments aren't needed here or anywhere else for that matter.

Please keep in mind that everyone has different things they like to share, discuss, and so on. If one doesn't meet with your liking, simply move on to one that does. There is no need to use inflamatory remarks.

Not everyone is like you.

Difference and diversity is what makes the United States of America the wonderful nation that it is. Please keep that in mind as you view and interact with the TB community.

Thank You,

I've alway played my T-birds with my fingers. Often times I'll emphasize the neck pickup, roll off the tone, and pluck over the neck pickup or even up close to the neck itself. Instant "thump"!

That's the terrific thing about the bass, or any bass for that matter. You can get a variety of tones by utilizing the vol, knobs for each pickup as well as the tone. Depending on where you acctack the string, whether by pick or fingers, you can obtain some very distict sounds.

One feature I realy like about the Gibson Thunderbirds is its slender neck. It's sort of amusing going to it right after I've played my 2009 Rick which has a very meaty, beefy sort of neck that is a real hand full - which I also appreciate. The contrast is what keeps me playing for as long as I do.

There's no substitute for variety! :hyper:
