I pulled the trigger! I purchased the one at Wichita Guitar Works for a great price. This one has a black back, so I'm trading the transparent wood grain view for the racy orange-white-black color combo plus saving much money. The bass will be shipped tomorrow morning, and I should receive it in a few days. A nice birthday present for myself, it will pair up well with my 2003 CIJ Fender '51 Precision in Butterscotch Blonde.

Now, if I were to purchase a hard case, which one is the right one, from Reverend? Where can I get the best deal?

Finally, I have flats strung through the body on the Precision, no problem.

We call it the L case. It should be the same price wherever you would order it from. Truthfully though, it's the same case our semi hollow guitars go in, and it doesn't fit the Dub King perfectly. It fits, and it might be better after it sits in it awhile I've only seen a "fresh" fit. It's not loose or anything inside. Then again, it's such an odd sized instrument, I'm really not sure what after market case it could go in.

Further I would like to change the wiring to the "Tele" like bridge - both parallel - neck as I never use the series setting.

I lined my R5L's control cavity when I put some active jazz pick ups in it. FWIW, I didn't have noise.

I received the Dub King on Monday, and have been quite busy. But, I have had a chance to tune her up and check her out, and am highly pleased. This one is New-Old-Stock in very good condition (with decidedly minor demonstration blemishes), and is of abundant quality (it seems MIK, at least by Mirr Music, is approaching the level of MIJ). Most of all, it's a fantastic alternative to my '51 Reissue P-Bass! I love the hollow, ringing, sustained sound, light weight, and playability of the Dub King. All at a great price!

Now, to buy another Hercules stand and a strap. I have a Gruv Gear SoloStrap that I've been using on the Precision (shown in the photo above on the Dub King), but will purchase a Mono Strap Betty for the Dub. I have a Fender two-bass gig bag that accommodates both basses, but am considering hard cases now for both the Precision and the Dub King.

I should be getting the Re-Topped BH5 back next week from Joe's Music in East Pointe, MI. It will go from 1 of 8 Bug Eye to 1 of 1 Tooled Aluminum! According to Joe they made 3 or 4 Guitars with this top in 2001, but didn't put any on the Rumble Fish, although they had at least 1 set of covers made for a bass. I was hoping to get it back before this weekend. We're playing a Rather Rowdy Biker Bar, and I wanted to get some Good Pic's of me El-KaBong! - ing one of the Hairier patrons! (just kidding of course!) Pics to Follow!

thanks for the quick answer. yes it is mine. had it since around 2001. Really love it but it doesn't see that much action lately. not sure why. silly ( stupid..) on my part... actually made me convert almost all my jazz basses to a push/pull series/par setup. been thinking about going VVT with a pull pot for the series as i do miss that option.

I put hipshot ultra-lights tuners and the Naylor counterweight on mine with a suede-back wide leather strap... Now my Dub King (in regular rotation) doesn't neck-dive.

Whatever you have to do - from the day I got it, people (especially other bass players) love its look and its sound. I have a Moroccan gold PJ and a Frankenbass ('66 P w/Mex J neck, Res-o-lites, BadAss 2 bridge, Bill Lawrence PUPs) in use 5 nights a week. The Dub King gets all the positive attention.
