Ah! I see this now. But this is all good! I put DR Stainless flats on, and with my Amp Perked up a bit on the Treble / Mid side this bass is still a Deep Thumping machine. And Surprise Surprise Surprise! This thing has a B-String just DYING For metal! ( My band thinks they are "Metal". I know I'm not, but can play along with them! ) I think it's time for Spring...

BTW, my Bug Eyed Brad Houser arrived today.

Previous owner wore a Watch or Spikes, or something Abrasive!

I Love these Tuners!

He also had a Very Dangerous Belt Buckle...

What pickups are in the bass now? I noticed you said it comes with the original pickups during the sale, but I'm curious about those Smooth looking Pups!

Early BH5 had exposed poles; later ones had cover poles.
AFAIK, there are no drop in replacements that fit.

Interesting. Are the Later covered pickups a little more pronounced on the Higher registers? The Exposed poles I have are Treble Free!

I changed them sometime ago, and I don't really remember the difference now. I thought they told me that it would be a little bit brighter. Looks cool. Ha.

I've never opened mine up, but I'd imagine you could change out the tone cap(s).

Or maybe the pots, as well.

I never bothered, usually run my passive basses into a preamp/driver pedal anyway. Brightness issue solved.

I'm seriously considering picking up a Reverend, and am looking at the Dub King in particular. It seems the backs of earlier ones are black, while the newer ones are transparent orange or tobacco burst, showing the wood grain and stripes. I like the looks of the newer ones much better, and was wondering if there was a difference in construction and playability between them and the black. Anyone have an answer?

They're are the exact same bass. We switched from the black back to the matching back in the beginning of last year

I might be buying a Dub King shortly. No pun intended. That orange is killer. And I definitely want one with an orange back.

I have a question. I'm a believer in La Bella flats. It's what I have on my Fender P( 049. 069. 089. 109). Does anyone know what the best set of La Bella's would be for a Dub King? Thanks.

After checking the Bass Strings Online site, I would go for the short scale La Bella Deep Talkin' flats. But the question is, do I string through the body or through the end of the bridge? Is one way better than the other?

I love the sound of my R5L with flats I am thinking about shielding the cavity as the neck PU hums rather a lot when used in not so ideal environments. Has anybody done this? Did it help?

Further I would like to change the wiring to the "Tele" like bridge - both parallel - neck as I never use the series setting.
I suppose this has been done.
Could anyone post some pics or "wirogramm" of this, please

I've heard that flats shouldn't be strung through the body. Supposedly they don't have enough "give" to make the angle from the body cavity to the bridge. And I did break my fairly new E string when I strung my flats though the body. But, we just set up a bass for Meshell Ndegeocello, and I was told by Joe Naylor to string her flats through. I could tell no difference between the two.

Early Precisions were string thru only. That seemed to work out ok
