Not a phase thing. They're all like that. Just a strange anomaly with frequencies when both pickups are full on. Some of the identical frequencies cancel each other out.

She was thinking about going to a 32" scale, but decided on standard eventually. I agree with the Hipshots though. I just put them on my other Mercalli, and the whole band, including Ken Haas, said how great it sounded that night. I pointed out the Hipshots to Ken, and he just kinda glared at me.

Hmm... just gota crank it then I guess.... the pickup selector at 12 is my favorite sound... I really do like this bass a lot... I bought it as a beat around, but it's been seeing more gig time than my Fender or G&L as of late... I also liked the fact that when I thought I had a neck issue, I spoke directly with Ken Haas who actually followed up with me after the fact just to make sure everything was good... said it before but it bears repeating that the Reverend customer service is something to be revered and emulated by other companies.

I have hipshot ultralights on both my BH5 and PJ; both for the weight, and, the clover leafs.
Those Y shaped keys on the older ones always bugged me. I don't like the shape of the new keys either, but I'm a codger.

New to the group. I have a BH-5 that is the Mahogany model. I can't really get the high end sound of the bass to sparkle. Just not enough treble for me. I guess I've been playing too long on basses that have a preamp in them. I live in the Detroit area and have stopped by to see the guys at Reverend. They did give me a couple 500k pots to install which I haven't yet. Can't myself. Need to have it done for me. Any other suggestions. Just bought a Ampeg PF800 which could do the trick. Haven't tried it yet.

Well there are some little things you can do like change to a brass nut, switch to lighter stings, and play more towards the rear pickup but I think you'll be surprised at the difference those pots will make.

I'm very new to Reverend... Everyone keeps telling me that the "old Reverend," basses were much better than the new ones... I love mine, but I was wondering what, if anything, was so much better about the old ones? The only thing I don't think I'd like about them is the smaller body, but I've never played an "old," Reverend.

How so? I know the older ones are semi-hollow and made of composite... I'd probably have to play one to get a sense of the differences and I never see the old one here in OKC haha
