So, is it considered sacrilege to mod a Reverend Bass?
My conundrum is that I've found my holy grail for bass tone. And it's not my Rev. I have a stingray that I've modded to multicoils and there is just no substitute. However, the stingray is meh in the neck dept and my favorite player, neck wise is my Mercalli 5.
I'm considering putting multicoils in the Rev for the best of both worlds. I do love the bricks in my Mercalli, but they cannot come close to the multicoils and sound like they have a blanket over them when comparing.
Am I crazy?

How did you contact them? I've found their email to be very receptive. They do not respond to inquiries through socials usually - has to be through their technical support page on their site, which leads to their email.
Anyone who thinks it sacrilege to modify an instrument isn't a real player. Just my two cents.
If it's yours, make it yours. Do whatever you need to make it feel like it belongs to you and lets you be you most creatively.
As far as my opinion goes on multicoils, I love them, and would love to see a Rev with them in it.

Soon Eric, Soon. I just inquired with Chris Turner about the cost for some of his drop in replacements. I have a set already but they are 17.5mm spacing for the stingray.
It's going to require some routing to make it active and deepen the pickup cavities because his pickups are almost 2x as deep as the Bricks.
I'm also on the lookout for a coffee burst FM if anyone sees one on the market.

I don't currently own a Reverend, but I've often wondered how a Mercalli would sound with Nordstrand Big Blademan pickups installed.
The bass itself is a tone monster. Any quality pickups are going to sound great. I love the Bricks that are in the bass but I've been spoiled on multi-coils.
@ericplaysbass do you know what the "-2" would mean in a serial number from Rev?

That indicates a B-stock guitar - something that has a minor cosmetic blemish from the factory that doesn't impact functionality.
I modded my thundergun with nordstrand big blademan pickups and an audere preamp and liked the results.
Not me playing, obviously. But the Mercalli made its first appearance outside my house tonight.

I have a neck question. My Mercalli 5 has a medium oval neck, IIRC.
It's the perfect fit for my hands, what other basses have this similar neck feel and how does a medium oval translate to a soft C shape.
