And even through the Fender Twin Reverb guitar amp she was using (don't know if it was modded or original) it sounded so amazing... I want one! How does a Decision or Fellowship compare to, say, a Fender P? Soundwise and feelwise?

Biggest problem is their availability here around Holland... Can barely find a shop that has them in stock or anyone that has one.

Maybe the bass was being played through the Ampeg bass head and the cabinet on the right. Jus sayin'.

Club heads up:
Now that both my PJ and BH5 are gone I've got some stuff I don't need.

9 Reverend "gotoh type" tuners off early basses. Nothing wrong with them, I just preferred hip shot cloverleafs.

4 Reverend straps

2 9" wide "flying R" embroidered patches. These would be great on the back of a jean jacket or such.

If any of that interests you shoot me a pm. If no one in the club is interested I'll put them in classifieds...

It was a great gig, thanks for asking. I play often at this club with this band (i am Fool), and the sound guys know my playing style and love my bass, so they dial in a great sound. We kept the audience from 11:15 to 2am last call. Made new fans.

As always, on breaks I am surrounded by other musicians with questions about the bass (that's how I got the Reverend Ken nickname, somebody noticed that people were more interested in the bass than me, decided to create a 'shortcut'... It didn't work, now people just ask where my church is...).

I replaced the pu's on my R5L with some other Jazz pu's, don't remember what but it really improved the bass. I didn't care for the stock pu's at all. Some concerns about your proposal: of course some body mods and a new pick guard. But also the angled pu's look great. You'd have to presumably place the P pu's normally (or would you?) and there isn't much wood inside there so I wouldn't want to remove any. FWIW, I think you could get the tone your looking for (whatever it is) with the right J pu but it may be that you just like the look of the p pu.

Also, you could eliminate your neck pick-up and route the body for a P pick-up and have a pick guard made. You might be able to squeeze it into the space between the neck pup and the neck on your R5L making the operation at least visually reversible.

No nibbles on my fish so far, and I thought that maybe I have it priced a little too high at $1k shipped, and then I saw this ad in Reverb: Reverend Rumblefish 5L 1999 Red/Gold | Reverb



Compared to the $2K he's asking for almost the same bass (LOL!!), mine is a bargain! Even comes with a b/w/b pickguard in addition to the gold one.

Bartman, yours is priced right, maybe a tad too high, but this guy is smoking crack if he thinks he can get 2k out of that bass! PS Goodluck with the sale, are you keeping any reverends or will this sale take you out of the club?

I will probably be dropping the price a little but my research caused me to LOL when I saw that $2K figure. SOME day down the road a few years it MIGHT be worth that much due to rarity if a bass hero falls in love with a Rumblefish or something and the market explodes but it's ludicrous in the present day.

I will always keep my Lava Swirl PJ. It still gets occasional stage time and is my all-time favorite 'fish; it's one of my "all time Top 10 dream basses." I may have gone down from 5 Reverends to (soon to be) only one, but I will ALWAYS keep that Swirly PJ.

I still think I'll regret selling the R5L, but I really should try to thin the herd. If I end up keeping it, it's not a horrible thing. But I am making an effort at trimming down. I try to keep myself to under 10, but I'm having troubles with that.
