Steve has to be mistaken. My red Rumblefish is serial #576, bass #90. So, it's impossible for serial #1015 to be bass #71.

Yes!! That is awesome. Good idea on the pre-sale commitment.. when the time comes, we should have no problem lining up enough buyers between Talkbass and the Reverend Forum.
When I bought the Rumblefish new at Joe's Music Quarters, I traded in a 1978 Rickenbacker and '51 Precision reissue and I still had to pay about 2 or 3 hundred, but I dont' t remember the actual number, sorry.

Just for grins, how long has everybody owned their beloved fish/fishes? I bought mine in late summer 1999. Reverend had a dealer base at that time; there were no dealers close to me (Cleveland) so I was able to get it shipped to me. I'd be interested in hearing how and when you other Rumblers (and Housers) got yours.

I got my first one, Rumblefish #47, in November of 1998. There were no dealers in Atlanta at the time, so I drove to a small music store in Greenville, South Carolina, about two hours away. My second one was a green R5L. I ordered it direct from Reverend and received it in the summer of 1999. That bass is forever immortalized on a CD (including one thunderous open B) but I realized five-strings weren't for me and traded it away.
Next came a bugeye XL 4-string in the spring of 2000. There was a dealer in Atlanta by that time, so I ordered it through them. I sold that bass about a year later.
My fourth and fifth Rumblefish, which I still have, both came from eBay. The white one, Rumblefish #62, was actually first advertised in the Talkbass classifieds. They had put it on eBay first and then came here to adverstise that fact, which I believe is not kosher now. I went to eBay and BIN'd it. That was in 2003, I think. The red one, Rumblefish #90, I won off the 'Bay a couple of months ago.

As for the serial number thing, I just don't know. If serial #576 overall was bass #90, that would mean Reverend made only 10 basses out of the next 729 instruments they built, to get bass #100 at serial #1305. Doesn't seem to add up.
Now that I look at this more closely, I think it says "Joe Naylor '00", as in the year 2000, and not "Joe Naylor 100".Actually.....
Although that's a really big apostrophe. And the "1" in the serial # looks similarly placed.

Hey Dave you're absolutely right about that. Ive got #1355 and it has the same thing, Joe's autograph and '00 after it

Here's the definite answer: I've got 4-string #90, which is serial #576. And I once owned 5-string #19, which was serial #654. The 5-string basses were individually numbered separately from the 4-strings. So, at serial #654, there were 19 5-strings and at least 90 4-strings. That's 109 total basses.
And, definite answer, part 2: All Reverend basses are awesome, regardless of serial number!
The Reverend forum appears to be down.. I haven't been able to access it for a couple of days now. Anyone else having trouble getting there?
