Just to clarify ... I am not a Ric dealer or reseller ... I work for an engineering firm ... I don't have any Rics for sale ... I sometimes buy and sell basses on ebay as a hobby ... I also customize my basses and every once in a while I customize one for someone else ... but it is a hobby ...

Also I don't own all of those basses ... I have owned many of those in the past but these days I just own a few that I am keeping and playing.

nice collection Ric5...whats the story with the "Chris Squire" 8 string, it looks like a modded Squire model(except the bridge pup looks like it is not a horseshoe)a 4001\3s maybe?? never saw one like that before..(not fond of the headstock).what is the extra knob?? ..I used to have a 4008 and the headstock was longer and all the tuners were the same..

That bass is a modified 4003s ... A firend of mine in California had a 4003s modified to look like a cross between a 4001cs and a 4008 ... Chris Squire actually owned a bass much like that in the early 70s and that is a real Chris Squire signature on that bass ...

I have never played that bass or seen it in person ... my friend sent me the pictures ...

I would be tempted to string it BEAD with octave strings and put in a bridge with 8 seperate saddles ...

But it is a beautiful bass ...

yes it is beautiful.(I still don't like the headstock;)) I tried tuning my octave strings down a 4th before and it sounded great(instant power chord)I've also tried it with just the D and G(octave) strings down a 4th and the E and A normal which was also kinda cool..I sure do miss my 4008 :hmm:
