I'll take a number.

'74 4001, just got it.

Just finished the RWRP (reverse wound, reverse polarity) mod on my 4003, sounds great, no more hum when both pups are up full, which is how I run it almost all the time anyway.
I was a little nervous, and ended up having to solder the new hot lead twice, since I didn't put enough solder on the joint the first time and pulled it apart when cooking the heatshrink.

I also took the opportunity to tidy up a couple of frets which were a little high, and put a paper with my name, address, and phone number under the 'guard for theft recovery.

It was the first time I had the 'guard off this bass.
Nice, neat job under there!
Very 'well groomed'!
Inspected by 'MA'.

1977 4001 is next on the RWRP mod list, but I'll not do the 4080.
She stays stock, too much collector value to change anything from stock.
Besides, it had the least hum of my four.

Back in the day...:cool:...I used to put a little hemp treat under the pick guard, for the next time I worked on or cleaned my '71 4001....hmmmm I wonder. Nope, those days are over:)

BTW, I'll take a number too, '71 4001 and a brand new 2011 4003 Mid Blue...pics if required.
