In a nutshell.....I bought it from the original owner. When he bought it he quickly realized the issue with the factory pickups vs. the string spacing so he had the Bart's installed and never looked back. He also had a brass nut fitted.
I made a posting on another forum that "hinted" that I'd be willing to pay for a Cii/5 if one popped up so the original owner contacted me and we struck a deal. I likely overpaid but the odds of finding another are slim (although this is my 2nd) so it was/is worth every penny.
As it sits now I swapped the gold hardware for black and in December it's getting sent out to be freshened to "as new" condition (except for the p/u mod
). At that time I'll be swapping the Bart's for Nordstrand Big Splits and dual concentric stacked pots. I'll post some updated pics on Sunday of the Cii/5 and it's siblings.
