The one far left is a 1976 John Birch SCDR bass in greenburst.
The one far right is a Retrovibe RV5 5 string.
Yes - Probass is the supplier - Retrovibe is the brand name.
A decent 5 string bass, far more like a MusicMan than a Ric soundwise.
Very nice to play and excellent value for the price.
Good low B string too - notes fairly definite.

That is pretty much a stock 4004cii with the montezuma brown color. I have one that is pretty much the same as that except mine was converted into a 5 string bass.

A bass that looks like a Ric and sounds like a stingray is a win win in my book.
That is pretty much a stock 4004cii with the montezuma brown color. I have one that is pretty much the same as that except mine was converted into a 5 string bass.
I actually like the Monte better but it's still pretty sweet .

I don't know why, but I find the Ric body shape beautiful with the pickguard and shiny chrome parts, but without them, not so much. Maybe it's just how I was programmed as a young Geddy and Squire fan...
I always thought of the Ric as a high-tech thing, even though it's 50s technology, it still seems futuristic to me, and yet old-school at the same time. Kind of a like an old F-104 jet fighter.

I think most Ric lovers would agree with you but I'm kinda on the opposite side of that , all the oddities and quirks of the other models kept me away but the clean lines and stripped down aesthetics of the 4004's was love at first sight .
Are there any 4004s that came with inlays like on the 4003? i think that plus chrome hardware would make a bass that would appeal to me

Like fretno said, i have played Ric basses for 35 plus years, but always preferred the less ornate S models. nowadays i really love the 4004's as a platform for customising. I own a '74 4000,an '04 cii,and a an '04 laredo,the last of which was heavily customised with 4002 pickup placement set over a '50's pickguard replica,and also push pull pickup switching options.
I've always loved the look/feel/sound of the classic 4001/4003 models, but one look at the more modern 4004, I was hooked. After finally getting one for my own, it quickly became my #1 bass. Then I joined a band as the synth player, and my Cheyenne took a backseat to sevreral keyboards. Ain't life a doozy?

What do you guys think of the rear of this mapleglow it has this splinter looking mark but its totally smooth
Thats what i thought its a beauty but someone was trying to lowball me do to it , i decided to keep the bass anyways so that doesnt really matter
