tuning and cleaning day. Dropped the Fireglo yesterday right before the worship set at church . Just chipped the paint tho no real damage. Heartbreaking because it is less than a month old.

I have spoken with customer service at Rickenbacker as well as another manager at Guitar Center. Rickenbacker has no idea what the salesperson is talking about (exactly what you guys said) and the manager speculates that perhaps the customer service person at Rickenbacker isn't privy to the special arrangements the salesperson at Guitar Center might have (he is the Platinum Manager and has a lot of personal arrangements with different companies that GC doesn't normally carry in-store). I'm not sure how that is supposed to be relevant to the situation, but I've sent copies of emails from this salesperson and Rickenbacker to this third manager and hopefully the situation will be cleared up soon. I hope it is just a big misunderstanding and the guy didn't lie to me, but the whole situation doesn't make any sense to me.

It's supposed to be a translucent blue but it changed color over time to a translucent purple. Talked to Ric customer service and they basically said they don't do not know why it did it.

They're only coming to Platinum stores or something like that. I hope they don't come to mine. My store is the only one that makes EBMM basses seem like terrible garbage. Meanwhile the Squiers they turn over constantly are super-playable. Maybe if they'd just give the basses that sit there for two years a setup...

Peculiar nomenclatures aside, they're supposed to be coming to the one local to me, whatever they call it.

[Ten years ago, it was supposedly the #1-selling GC in the country. Now, it's absolutely dead. I can't imagine how it stays open.]

Not yet, but I've seen some at Sam Ash.

Not that it has anything to do with GC's particular situation, just a statement to the current availability of new Ric stock.

Originally, I just put like 25% down at Guitar Center, but then a month after doing so, the salesperson calls me and says he got an email from Rickenbacker saying they changed their policy and now require all special orders to be paid in full.

that is a GC policy. i've done special orders there in the past and they were originally 50% down and balance due when the instrument arrives. the last time i special ordered a bass they had changed it to 100% down on special orders.

I think he's just using eBay for free advertising, which is probably not a bad idea.

Interesting, I am wondering if that is true for my Guitar Center as well and this salesperson is just trying to transfer blame to Rickenbacker in trying to get a full payment from me because he made a mistake in accepting a partial payment initially.
