Zymol will put a deep gloss on your finish like no other.
but
if you treat the bass and put it in the case for a few days it will smell like arse when you open it.
zymol is organic.
turtle wax 123 is what I have always used with no arse problems
Here is my old Rick that I sold last year, Argh! It's a 1990 4003. The neck is so small. A lot smaller than the newer ones. I have a 1989 4003S Jetglo on its way to me though so it's all good. I'll post that one too when it arrives
The strap buttons installed are the originals, they look excactly like Schallers, except there are no locking parts.
So you can buy the locking parts separately? Online?

Keep in mind, this comes with the locking part, but also another button, so you'll have a spare lying around in case you ever need it. I haven't been able to find the locking part by itself, so I just went with what I've shown and they work perfectly!

I got a very good deal of a great bloke via ebay because it had some damage [ chips ] but i have done the hard work and its looking great now.
It is a week !!!! 2004,4003jg of which there was only 30 made so its fairly unique.

Is there much of a difference? Which one did you ricky club members that went hipshot go with? I'm on the fence about switching to the hipshot so I figured I would ask.

Bass Parts Resource have a flat $5 on post and package...
A great supplier of parts, BTW.
Those are the ones you want. You'll only need the little locking piece that attaches to your strap. You could even use the extra buttons on another guitar or something.
Brass or aluminum though? Which does everyone here prefer? The hipshot webpage stated the the aluminum bridge enhances the highs and mids on a ricky, while the brass accentuates the low end. Has this been peoples experience with the hipshot bridges?
I'm leery of putting an aluminum bridge on the Ric since its already pretty bright to begin with, it being 100% maple and all.
Comments, thought on this, anyone?

If that's the case, i would get the aluminum- i just got the cheapest bridge which ever that was. If you get the brass and it makes it have more low end- you'd be cancelling out the Rick's natural ability of brightness
I do love low end though :x
So today, I decided to take off the pickup cover off my rick, because from other basses I've worked out thats pretty much where I play.
It's probably been said before, but, I was pretty surprised to find out it was made of plastic.
Also, does anyone own an 8 string rick? I think I've seen one on this forum before(I'll check this thread after this post)
But I had this dream last night, that I was playing one, a black one with these mystic gold swirls all over it.
And I had it bi-amped.
Which gave me the motivation to do what ive wanted to do for a while. Run my rick stereo.
So today i went to do it using a fancy stereo splitter going to two cables.
Only problem is, they both seem to be giving the output of both pickups.
Tommorow I'm going to give the wiring a look to see if i can work it out.
But I think it might just be the splitter I have.
Again, probably discussed here, but anyone currently do this? Do you have a splitter or a stereo cable?
I want to run the bridge through a bit of distortion and the neck clean.

I have:
a) The Rick o Sound kit.
b) a Rickenbacker B-115 tube amp with a stereo input (on which I can use a stereo cable)
I Like playing around with this. Giving both pick-ups a separate treatment has a lot of posibilities i.m.h.o.
