Okay, I'm in need of some clarification here.

I was under the impression that the Rics' ability to send each pickup to separate amps was a stock feature, as there are two output jacks.

If so, then what the heck is the Ric-O-Sound kit for?

One output jack on the bass is normal. The other one is for a stereo jack. The ROS kit has such a stereo jack which leads into a box which has TWO mono jacks which you can lead into seperate channels or seperate amps or whatever.... So the stereo end of the ROS kit goes into the bass.

Ah... but make sure it's a Y Cable that comes with a single Stereo 1/4" plug on one end that splits into two Mono 1/4"ers on the other end!

And I say make sure of this... 'cause yer average, everyday "Radio Hut" won't care what kind of Y Cable they sell you!

That single stereo plug goes into your stereo hole in the Rickenbacker. The 2 mono's go into two amps. Or whatever.

This is all you need, I have one and it works great- cheap and effective. Right now I have two mono wires running out of the y cable which can get ungainly but my plan is to eventually go wireless, so this small splitter cable will be perfect for my future applications.

I have just started to experiment with ric o sound myself: using different effects , various eq settings etc, it opens up a whole new tonal pallatte. One thing I really like is that through ric o sound you can run your bassy neck pu clean and then use guitar voiced effects on your trebly bridge pick up. You get to use all sorts of cool guitar effects that would normally suck away your tone and lowend but beacuse of Ric o sound you retain your lowend!!!! Can't do that on most Bass guitars and get away with it!

The more I see of these mapleglos, the more I like 'em!

I know a few of you must also have a couple Ric guitars.
How do you like them? They appear to be bit more expensive
than the basses. Are they as difficult to get ahold of? I'd
probably go with fireglo or jetglo on a six-stringer.

Seen a few on e bay new 2007 4003's going for £1400 +

If you can wait 18 months you can order a new one for £999..
