The Samick Club

Me rocking out on my friend's Samick back in highschool jam days 2003.....Solid P bass and i still remember it for its punchy tone, it was the P that got me hooked on P's.

I would say it was on par with any SX i have ever played.

I have to say, after playing for many years, I actually love playing my Samick HFB5690 RB black 5 string archtop more often than my other (more expensive) bass gear! Of course, we keep hearing in reviews about how it's not that loud unplugged... but when was the last time you got payed to play around a campfire? I've got mine loaded with GHS taped strings, which I think sound great and play like 'butta'... and, with a little creative decoration, there is a cool rockabilly vibe that you can't get with a slab, in my humble opinion anyway... an unusual, well-made & FUN bass at a reasonable price!

Sorry guys, the only Samick I've ever played is a piano. It wasn't too bad, but the action was a bit stiff.

Actually I have a story with it... I was playing a piece at a recital, and I reach down to the low F to hit the final tonic note. I hit it, and it didn't sound. The phrase repeats, so I hit it AGAIN, and it doesn't sound. So I end the piece as well as I could, and wait. At the 5-minute intermission I went up to check what the problem was (it was a grand piano). It was missing a string :P

I've gone through a lot of basses in the last couple years, and may eventually sell this one too, but for now I'm really liking the Samick Artist Series 5 string I picked up recently. Its purty too. Candy Apple Red w/ gold hardware.

Is there anyone left that's active in this club? I am checking out a Samick Artist 5... I like it, I've heard good things about Samick - I know full well, it's a lower-end bass, but I am looking for something to use on outdoor gigs and dive bars where I won't have to worry about my more expensive basses... Here is a pic - don't know much on it... type of wood, body or top - I just happen to like the P J pickup config. Thanks.

My one and only bass is a Samick. (unknown model)
I bought it from primary school (new) when I was 9 so it is a bit smaller/shorter. I've been playing it pretty much everyday ever since, (apart from most of '08 where i barely touched it ) I find it plays pretty good and fast, sounds pretty p-bassy, but the tone control knob does absolutely NOTHING! The volume control is pretty sensitive too (it's like nothing or full blast). Overall I quite like it and have had absolutely no quality problems with it except for the jack input thats a bit loose on the inside of the guitar.

Only know a little about Samick guitars. I found this japanese webpage with info and photos of Link Removed

I remember seeing this webpage a couple of years ago so last week when I saw this Samick LPC at my friends shop I bought it.

One difference I noticed between my Samick and the one pictured on the web page above is that they have different logos on the headstock(mine is on the right).
