The Samick Club

Just picked up this SAB-13 on the bay. Great woody tone! Would like the action just a shade lower, but don't think it's adjustable. Do I get a hat with my membership? :-)

I know it's an old thread, but what the heck...

My one and only bass is a four string Samick Fairlane. I am quite fond of it though I am considering going with an acoustic bass next. Anyway, it was a good buy and plays well.

My new P-bass beauty. Samick Greg Bennett Fairlane FN-2N (Natural finish). Only 100 euros including a good quality gigbag. Very playable, very well set up, very good precision bass sound!

Could only find ONE pic of this finish online on a russian music site of 'em. Very weird stuff.

Hello, all. This is my first post in this talkbass forum. I'm from Indonesia. Pardon my English, it might look terrible. This is my Samick bass, P model. I bought it for IDR 500k (approx. USD 50). Speaking about playability, this is the most descent bass I have (I have a Squier P Bass California Series). The Samick Bass is the black one.

At the pawnshop today I saw a Samick Custom Bass, I think a model SDB569 AM, priced at $199. Sound like a good deal? It felt pretty good and I really liked the 5-piece neck, which I've read elsewhere is likely wenge.

According to that page:
Contoured Alder body, 4-bolt 5 piece neck, Rosewood fretboard, 24 frets, 34" scale, H/H, active, 1 volume, 1 presence, 2 tone, black die-cast gears, heavy bridge, brass nut, Abalone "S" logo, offset markers. Amber

I can finally join the club. I've been looking for a Corsair MCR1 for a few years now and one finally popped up at my local pawn shop for $60!

I believe the string are original. They're completely dead. It's been a pain finding new strings that'll fit without breaking. I ordered a set of guitar scale string from Circle K. Hopefully they'll work out.

My GF got me a Samick mini bass just like yours for this last Christmas. Very cool little basses! I haven't needed to change the strings on mine yet, but I have read that you can use normal 34" scale strings on it, they just need to be light gauge and you have to cut them short (obviously).

Like I said, I haven't needed to change the strings yet, but if you have an old set laying around, try it out and tell me if it works!

My problem is I really dislike light, floppy strings. I tried putting a regular set of strings on the bass the E string broke at the tuner, just as I expected it to. I'm waiting on a set of .043 - .106 guitar scale strings from Circle K Strings that I think will be perfect.

After waiting a couple of weeks I went back to the pawnshop and the Samick Custom was still there. I plugged it in and played around on it for a few minutes and ended up purchasing it for $170. It's a great feeling bass. I really like the 5-piece wenge/bubinga neck. I hoped to try it out at rehearsal today but it got cancelled.

Normally, I'd remove the stickers but I'm going to leave these on. Looks like the bass was well used and played judging by the wear on the face.

Just got this from Amazon for $200 shipped and picked up the amp for $80 at the local pawn shop.

I am very happy, and for less than $300 I can disturb the neighbors.

Amazing punch and low end from this combination, no effect pedals yet

I cant recommend this bass highly enough, it is so easy to play it almost feels like the neck of an electric guitar and you barely have to exert any pressure at all to hold down the frets.

My Dad's acoustic guitar is actually harder on the wrists that this bass..... You could play for hours on end and it is just a dream come true.

Really glad I chose this over the Squire Jaguar SS.

I decided I don't really need this bass even though it's a pretty solid player. If anyone's interested drop me a message.

Samick artist series P bass $40 at a pawn shop and figured why the hell not, had it set up and its still just alright but it sounds pretty good~! i needed a P bass to go with my Peavey foundation 5 anyway so yeah its cream colored with a black guard and it looks oh so sexy~! it weights like 3-5 pounds LOL and for the sum of its parts i got a $170 for $40 lol so my next quest is to buy a fender vintage spec pick up and drop it in there
