Nice collection! I'm a big fan of those Epiphones. It's one of the best looking basses out there, IMO.I'm 75% short scale

Ibanez Mikro Bass. I got it after a spine surgery and I still play it since I've healed because it's just fun!
Next up for me is probably a Mustang or Musicmaster. These short basses start to grow on you.
just curious, what qualifies as "short scale"? 32"? 30?
pics?Yesterday I got the urge to see what a set of Bartolini P/J pickups I had laying around sounded like in my Mikro.
My Mikro is black and previously I had made a couple of cosmetic changes to partially "black out" the Mikro such as black strap buttons, black pickup screws, black "tophat" knobs (they "go to 11") and I also installed a set of my favorite strings: Labella nylon tapewounds.
Nothing was really "wrong" with the OEM pickups other than the noise from the J but I like Barts so I gave it a go.
First off the Bart P pickups are a bit smaller than the OEM P pickups so there's about a 3/16" gap at the rounded portion of the outboard sides of the pickups, but it's not really noticeable from 10 feet.
Other than that everything fit fine and IMO it sounds even better. The lows are fuller, the mids and highs are smoother and less aggressive, and the bass is noiseless.
I am thinking of setting my SX short-scale P up for BEAD tuning. Right now I have a .110-.050 set on and LaBella has a 5'er set that is .128-.041. I would naturally toss the high string. What I'm wondering is whether this would damage the structural integrity of the bass or not. I string through the body so long or standard scale length is no problem. Should I go with a heavier gauge? And yes, I am aware that tension will not be as tight as on a 35" bass. Thanks.
Will you be Vaderizing with a black bridge?
