Just picked the Barracuda up after a set-up and fit with Fender Bass VI roundwounds. The Hellcat VI LaBella's don't work as we had thought. Let me know if these were the angles you were looking for John. If not, let me know what you want.

I wanted confirmation that the Burns Barracuda's string saddles were wedge-shaped, and they are.

I'd expect that doing intonation for flat-wounds on this instrument would involve loosening each string before adjusting its saddle in order to avoid kinking said string.

When you get your Harm just take it into a music shop to test-fit some guitar strings.

But given that La Bella's recently introduced flat-wound and round-wound strings for the Hellcat VI will likely fit the Agile Harm VI...

Dude, not lookin' good. Out at both Elderly and Bigcitystrings. Think those were the only retailers. Not sure LaBella is making any more right now.

I suspect that the current price for La Bella 'Cat flats is aimed at 'priming the pump'. IMO La Bella's high quality Bass VI strings are definitely worth more than 14 bucks.

Well it looks like I'll have to buy more La Bella Fender VI flats sooner than I had planned.

I just broke the high E string's core wire 'neath its black silk wrap where it met the tuner's capstan.

For now it's back to using a new & twangy D'Addario .024 nickel wound round-wound from one of D's XL156 sets.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and order a bunch from Elderly then. So you got stainless steel rounds from them? I was checking regularly and never saw them go on sale, so they must've only made a few sets. Can I trouble you for a review?

Sorry, no review as of yet. Didn't install. And now the flats came and I am going to give them a try. Yeah, I ordered 2 sets of stainless rounds weeks and weeks ago and got only one of them. Other is on back-order.

Got a feeling that all varieties of the Cat VI strings will not always be in stock. They'll make them ONLY when they have enough orders to justify (economically-speaking) a run of them at LaBella. I could be wrong. But, to me - it's looking that way.

That's going to make it very difficult to gauge interest, if they're perpetually backordered.

I went ahead and placed an order for six stainless sets, but from what you say there's no telling when they'll make them.

No, right now my Barracuda is my bright VI, I want it to sound like a bass GUITAR, twangy and spiky, with a solid, piano-like tone. I still get all the low end I could want, but with lots of sparkly overtones.
