Welcome aboard sirHere's a shot of my humble yet really sweet SR500. The best $600 I ever spent on a bass.

I ordered Fat Stacks for my Ibanez SR785 from BBG ~$300 and to go with them a Mike Pope 4 band pre with act/pas and single coil switch. Also wanted to add that from what I understand, Nordstrand will work with you to make a custom sized pickup casing if they don't already offer it. I'm sure an upcharge would apply, but I don't know how much that might be. You would have to contact them for that info.![]()

Oh BTW I couldn't be more happier, my guys give me a weird look when I use other basses except for my fretless SX PJ cause it has it's own sound.I ordered Fat Stacks for my Ibanez SR785 from BBG ~$300 and to go with them a Mike Pope 4 band pre with act/pas and single coil switch.
Any recommendations to upgrade a '97 SR406? I'm thinking Bart pups and pre, but what of a bridge? Last time I changed strings they barely fit through! Anything with slots rather than holes (closed tube, cylinder, tunnel, whatever you want to say) so I don't have to thread through anything and can just put the end part in and go is preferred. Adding a bit of sustain might be good as well, but not the main goal. Prefer easy saddle adjustment as well. and should I bother with tuners/nut?
It's all black (came that way!), so I imagine that wouldn't be a problem. Not looking for anything flashy, black fits the bass and style I use it for. Have other basses for more stuff!

Has anyone converted their active SR to strictly passive?
I've been looking into options for my 5-string since I was an idiot and ordered tooth fairy pickups from SGD.
Perhaps dual humbuckers, volume for each pickup w/push-pull pots for single coil switching, a Stellartone Tonestyler and a master treble rolloff tone control...
That still leaves me with one open control position. Dummy pot with no connections?
I highly recommend the bart pre and heard great things about they're pups. Is yours a P/J or soapbar format? Also what kind of sound are you looking for? If I remember correctly the 97 400 series was still maple body and maple neck. If you pop in EMG's you can definitely rock a Spector tone.Any recommendations to upgrade a '97 SR406?
