Yes it is. I've owned a few used Ibby basses and was not happy with them (SR405QM, GSR205, and a BTB655). All these basses unfortunately had truss rod issues. I bought them sight unseen and paid the price. I gave Ibanez one more chance and got a new bass and it does not disappoint. It plays and sounds great can nail the P-Bass tone which I love and the fact that it is both active and passive is a big plus. I also love that you can play the bass without a battery. I almost want to sell my Classic Vibe P Bass and pick up the new SR300E as a backup!

Hi all. Thought I might check in. I used to play guitar in my late teens early 20's and have dabbled a little in bass over the years borrowing friends wife's bass. In the week after christmas and at 32 years of age I decided to get my own. An SR1206. I had my heart set on the SR1205 my local music store had however when I went in to buy they had sold it. They did however have the 6 string. Was never intending to get a 6 string but alas here it is. 4 months later and no regrets, I love this bass

just got my second SGear, a 1998 SR800 with mahogany body/burl top and AFR pups, and wonder if anyone might know if there's any carbon (or other) reinforcement in the 5-piece neck.?
know they started doing that at some point.

love this thing and it's low end authority, it is a lot stronger in that department than my SR650-but I know "apples to oranges".

Kts titanium reinforcement started in 2010 on prestige and premium models

SR800 did not have cosmo black bridges and usually had painted or color stained bodies and necks.

1995 was the only year SR800 had abalone oval inlays

there's some mystery here as the serial number F98xxxxx is clear and the Ibanez catalogs of the day mention this model.
interesting the 1/4" jack is not angled and on the face of the guitar, but on the edge...

Flat top body SR800 didn't have front output jack. Not doubting that's a 98 since b20 bridges were introduced that year and last year of AFR pickups was 2002. It's just that that type of neck and finish is not typical of SR800.

I've seen a few Japanese-made SR basses in this color with quilted top, AFR pickups and side jack that were labeled as 1999 SR990.

yeah thanks this may be the case-I've not taken the neck off to see if the model is (typically?) stamped inside.
actually never removed a bolt on neck-easy peasy or.....

Hey, I got a question about strings, I just got an '16 SR1305, Loving it so far, but thinking about changing the strings, I'm wondering what other people are using. I'm looking for something a little meatier than the factory strings (I think they're elixers?)

I'm actually considering putting Flats on it, Anyone else out there go that route? which are you using?

I've liked Tomastik Infeld jazz flats and D'Addario Chromes (probably the "meatiest"), and DR Legend flats too depending....lots to choose from
