Can I join the club?

I just bought a new Ibanez SR 1600 yesterday. I already have 2 Fender basses, but need a lightweight bass and came across an SR 1600 Premium.
Long story short, I bought the bass yesterday. Paid aprox $670 for it.

I love it. It's really light, my scale says 3.35 kg or 7.4 lbs. Here it is:

Here's a little pic my SRs.
About tone woods, I don't know for sure, but from experience, my 1205 on the pic sounds like no other premium I've ever tried (1300,1800,2600).
And in the end I think it come down to the wood, what you've played with it, how often, did it take vibrations of loud rehearsals and gifs...

Otherwise I just wanted to let you know that if you want a light bass, don't buy a prestige, it's a shoulder destroyer.
Great bass though, and since I installed the John East Preamp inside, it's a killer.

The Prestige is that much heavier than the Premium?!

They're generally at least 500 Grams heavier.
I'd say look at the mass on SweetWater.com, but they don't have any Prestige in stock.

From my research they're definitely heavier than the Premiums.

seeing your bass, I've just realized the 6 string SRSC isn't equipped with the MK1 pups as specs on its web page say, but the BH2 instead.

I wish Ibáñez would include a series/parallel switch when they use hum-buckers like the BH2.

Correct. I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing as I've never used either one until now. Sweetwater, ZZounds and other online retailers spec this model as having BH2's.

BH2 are generally in the higher mid-range basses. The MK-1 is popular in the lower mid-range, like the SR500.
MK-1 are closer to a single-coil sound, being reverse p-style split-coil hum-buckers.

I think the BH2 is considered a better pickup, but is probably a little darker than a MK-1, which is why I'd like to see a series/parallel switch.

The MK1 pickups are more generic in terms of Bartolini's. It is being used on quite numerous brands, whereas the Bartolini BH series are proprietary to Ibanez, which Bartolini wrote on his website as the results of his yearly collaborative work with top Ibanez engineers.

Now that I've got it setup to my liking, I'm quite liking the tone. I really like the neck Pickup solo (more than expected) and the passive mode sounds fantastic. It's a really comfortable bass.

Come to think of it... Ibanez has stopped putting on the MK1 on their SR500 series beginning this year. So, the 5-string SRSC is the only model left with the MK1 pups on Ibanez catalog, which seems currently avail only to the North America region. I've checked on Ibanez Asia and Europe catalog, they have deleted the SRSC models.

Ibanez puts the SRSC under the Bass Workshop line, which is like sorts of uncommon/experimental basses. So, it's expected that the models in the line wouldn't be in the market for long.

It is new.. a new old stock...so it's in great and new condition.

Recorded tonight for a different website. Once I figured out that the backing track was just Metallica's "Seek & Destroy" slowed down, the rest was easy. At first, I thought about boosting the bass frequencies, but then the TOOL-esque bass sound grew one me. That's my SRX 400. I imagine the Soundgears only get better from here on up.

sorry if this is a hijack but wondering if anyone can recommend black brass replacement control knobs that will hide the pot nuts (??) visible underneath?
don't know if these knobs in the photo are stock (bought this SR1900 used) and an awkward design, or some aftermarket attempt.
thoughts appreciated!
