Random thought: This is the battery cavity on my SRX 400. I'm reluctant to install a battery, because it seems like it would only fit, if I jammed it in. I was able to remove the previous owner's battery, but just so. He used an obscure brand that I've never seen before. It's possible that it's shaped a little different than the Duracell.

I've found that Rayovac are physically larger than Duracell and energizer. I had a bass Rayovacs wouldn't fit into, but the others fit fine.

Did someone say "punch"? Had these two side by side and the SR has alot of the same qualities sound wise as my NS-4. They both sound glorious through my Genzler stack. Yes, this is what I do on a Friday night....:-/

I know that the SR1800E was manufactured from 2014 to 2017 and the SR1820E replaced it in 2018, but was there ever an SR1800 before the "E" model?

Thanks. That's what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. It must just be that the SR1800E is often referred to without the "E".

I presume you would still recommend one, if it's affordable?

Folks leave off the full model number often.
For instance, you'll see someone post about a "SR400" that is clearly a SR400EQM.

The bridges are from Ibanez directly, I paid a little extra than I could get them elsewhere, because they had stock.
The machine-heads are from Philadelphia Luthier Tools, the aluminum Res-O-Lites.

Trying to remember where I got the Prestige-style strap buttons, but it was from e-Bay.

@Killed_by_Death you can get the mono-rail bridges in cosmo black?? That's great to know. I hate all the gold hardware they have. I'm thinking of getting a SR2400, but the gold is a turnoff

Ibanez used to have stock of the MR-IV saddles, but not currently:

but I think you can order parts from your nearest Ibanez dealer

The local Ibanez dealer sold me volume pots for two of my basses, which didn't appear in their online store.

MR-IV saddles will not fit into the slots of the MR-5S saddles. The MR-5 & MR-5S are wider.
AFAIK the SR2400 has MR-5S

If I had the slightest inclination for a second bass an SR1800E with BigSplits in both positions would do it for me. Putting one in the bridge position of my SR755NTF has just enhanced it so much to my ears. Those Res-O-Lite tuners are the go too - really improves the balance if you like the neck up a bit.

Although Ibanez had the SR1800E in every catalogue from 2014 to 2017, I've just found out that the 2014 and 2015 model has the truss rod adjustment at the head end and the 2016 and 2017 model has it at the neck end.

I see most people suggesting that having the adjustment at the neck end is generally considered to be better, but is it? I'd like to think that either way is fine, just as long as it's implemented properly - which I'd expect on a "Premium" bass.

Personally, I actually prefer the look of the bass with it at the head end, as there's nice looking truss rod cover and I don't really like seeing a crater at the neck end anyway.

I wish mine had the TR nut at the heel. I tend to take off those TR-covers & put them someplace. For a while I had them in a little KFC side-to-go container, LOL!
It rarely needs adjusting however, so I've left this one on.

Ideally they should have either the heel-adjust or the slide-cover TS-cover at the headstock:

It's a little ironic, because the bottom-rung GSR100EX has one of these handy TRCs.
