Currently have 6 Soundgear basses and the only one with after market preamp is the SRC6, which electronics got upgraded from passive EMG 35HZ pups and Ibanez owned preamp with active EMG 35TWX pups and EMG BQS Control preamp.

those bartolini jazz pickups and electronics sound so nice and the 18mm spacing is perfection. I wish all my soundgear 5s were 18mm spacing now haha

-Do you use the ramp? I've seen photos of Adam playing with it on and off the bass, and sometimes when it's attached, he's only using it as a thumb rest.
-how flat did they make the neck on the back compared to the usual sound gear necks
-and lastly I hear you saying you like the 18 mm spacing, is the extra width hard to deal with? I have smallish hands so unfortunately shape width balance is important
I like a tighter spacing too, but though I hate to admit it, I am looking forward to a little "sloppiness "room

I tried the ramp and if you are a soft player it will be fine, but I like to dig in deep and really get that burpy jazz bass punch and the ramp actually limits how much you "dig in" or really press the string down for a lot of pop and twang. I have recently removed it and prefer it without the ramp.
The neck is definitely a thicker profile than the normal soundgear neck profile, while this isn't inherently "bad" it isn't necessarily what I'm used to and would probably be the only thing I'd change if I could.
I really doubt you'll have any problem with the 18mm spacing, it's personally what I consider ideal. Plus the scale is still only 34" so it's not like going from a sound gear (16.5mm, 34") to a BTB (19mm, 35"). It's a nice comfortable in-between and you should get used to it pretty quickly. It's wide enough for slap (which this bass sounds GREAT slappin) and still close enough for quicker finger style runs.
HMMMMMM!!! I'm going to have to take a look into that! Glad ibanez is offering more 18mm options for us guys with big hands xD

Thanks, it's scheduled to show up on Saturday so I'll figure all this stuff out myself I'm just doing that "haven't received it yet but trying to figure out how much I'll like it before it gets here" thing that I'm guessing I'm not the only one who does
I am still curious, you didn't mention how flat the back of the neck was...
I figured the reason the ramp only filled half of the between-pu-spce was so there was room for "Burpee "playing near the bridge... like I said, it's nice to hear from somebody else about their experience.
I have read some people saying that this bass is a CNC version of a Fodera or F-bass. I'm hoping that's the case as it's the 2nd most expensive bass I've purchased out of 20 over 29 years.

I have five SR basses. I'm a loyal fan. But, having said that, has anyone noticed the close resemblance of the basses from Schecter and Cort to Ibanez? I think I've read in a thread that Cort is actually the parent corporation to Ibanez. I see a strong resemblance to the other 2 brands. 38mm string spacing, smaller aerodynamic body shapes, and the familiar headstock shape. Sounds like they're all cousins to me.
Cort made many Ibanez basses in korea before production moved to Indonesia. If your "made in Korea" bass has a serial number that starts with C, that means it was made by Cort in their factory (I have two that were made by them). It would make sense that they'd have similar approaches to their instruments. I don't know much about schector though or if they have any working relationship with either brands.
Ibanez parent company is Hoshinogakki. The relation with Cort is because Ibanez uses Cort Indonesia as its manufacturing contractor.
Cort has several factories in Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia, where some of them are dedicated as contract manufacturing plants for world guitar major brands such as Ibanez, Fender, G&L, PRS, Musicman, Lakland, Jackson, EVH, etc.
