I've mentioned these models before but my posts get no replies.
SR924 models are passive, neck through and tend to be heavy because of the design. There's a lot of wood and notice how far the bridge is from the end of the body. Ibanez wanted these models to have a more pure direct sound so they purposely made them passive.
Besides the other 5 and 6 strings, there is the SR2500
And a few gio models

Looks like the SR05 in that catalog has that bridge also? I like the look of that bridge.....what year is that catalog from?
Yeah, it's a different design for sure - more like a guitar bridge placement.
I'c love to try one. There's a bunch of late models SR's I'd like to have. I'm not take by any of the new ones at all. The only one I've got left is a late 90's SR480:it's called HB-4

I used to have a nice SR1000EFM but I found it to be too flashy and let it go. It'd be great to have a 4-string version of one of those slanted J basses, but I think the J's only came on the fiver.

SR05 has HB-5. those bridges look like a pain to adjust. Looks like saddles have to be adjust without the string sitting on it.Awesome! Thanks for the info!

I don't remember what year catalogs those are but 924 were 88-92 and 2000E/2040E were 88-89. There was an SR200E in 2008 but that's different.

Yeah the new preamp is amazing. I also installed a new set of Big Singles in it and it sounds great. Favorite feature of the preamp is the tone knob. Dial in your sound and then you can play with the tone knob to make it fit whatever you're doing. Sounds great in passive mode as well. Going from the MK1 setup I've experienced a whole new tonal palate. It took it from a dull sound to the sound of my SR1605 and beyond. It can do anything and can do a lot better at vintage tones than the 1605.

It probably came from japan. The finish looks like bright red burst or deep wine as seen on these other models
the accucast-b IV bridge tells me it's 91-98.
The pickups looked like they've been changed. Electronics probably changed too.
The other day, I got a notice about a package delivered to my UPS box....unexpectedly.
After looking into the info that was sent, I had my suspicions, which were confirmed when I went to fetch the package, today:

And, the first test-fit!
.....and the first two minor? issues.
1) The metal lip around the bottom edge makes for a snug fit. One more than the other. Doesn't seem atm to need any "adjusting"
2) The pickups aren't marked for bridge/neck (they're both LJ housings, it if that wasn't clear?). Might not matter, they're maybe both the same inside, too? I'll send an email to EMG tomorrow-ish, to clarify.

It's still a tight fit in the electronics compartment, but the wiring & connections were much easier to install, is a lot less...complex, and are much more solid, meaning they should be significantly more reliable, which was a main goal.
Still have to adjust pot heighth, I need to get the knobs a bit closer to the body

This bass is such a punchy monster live, Nordy big singles are just so good. Representing my TB community on the gig too!
