Because to many of us that fret rattle sounds glorious.
I get the Chris Squire sound where it's a tone goal and is pretty consistent across the board, but when it's spotty and just appears in some places on the neck and not others - where you play a lick and part of it is and part of it isn't - it just sounds like a mistake to me. Kind of like having a short in your cable. I guess everyone's entitled to like what they like.

I don't notice... Well, I do notice the rattle but I just ignore it I've heared worse than that, so probably that's the reason I don't really care about the buzz.
Even worse is when somebody who wants to do a fretless bass demo and plays it without hitting even 1 good (fretless) note

Yes, yes yes! Another one is when someone does a comparison between two pieces of gear and then runs completely different effects/settings on the two. They just show you their favorite sound on each and they are in no way similar.

I played the '97 SR800 I just got with the band tonight and I got say I couldn't be happier. Very ballsy and fun to play.
With an 800 I'm hoping to find a punchy Fender-ish sound with all the things I love about Ibanez - slim neck, comfortable body, and light weight.
It is a good approximation is how I would describe it. The guitar player commented on how punchy it sounded which is how he describes my Precision.
I went to Guitar Center today and found a real beauty- SR375F. I'm certain this will be my next bass! I played it against a G&L Tribute L-2500 (which sounded and felt really good) and a Music Man Big Al SSS 4-string. The SR375F was so much fun to play and sounded phenomenal. Plus, it would look amazing next to my Ibanez AEB5E

Some GC stores are selling the SR300 pretty cheaply these days. Bought the orange one for $119, the red with maple fretboard for $99. Both are in excellent condition. Now if I can find the new Aqua-green color (or the yellow - which I think is in Europe/Asia only), I'll be all set. I love the thin neck and bodies on these basses, I know they're the starter basses but change the pickups on these and they're going to be awesome basses.

The two SR300s are my practice basses. I've since lowered the action on the orange one so it's extremely low and perfect for slapping and also changed the strings to extra light, the red one is at normal string height with medium strings. Excellent value for the money imo, will perhaps move up to get one of the higher SR lines by trading one or some of my other higher end basses- just discovered the SR basses are better suited for my hands.
Now a question I just have to ask

For the record the SR250 is now considered part of the regular SR series, not part of the Gio line anymore.
It used to be called the GSR250. I played a new SR250 and the SR300 I bought back to back and I feel there is still a pretty big bump up in the quality of the neck and other hardware, but the current 250 gets you the same electronics as the current 300, so similar sound less refined package.
