Enormous. Going from the stock ceramic to an active alnico...way louder, more round. Deeper lows, softer highs. The EMG PA is one of my favorite pickups.

I used my Mini P for a remote session on the weekend! It was a soft rock/pop/country sort of thing. It absolutely nailed it. It's a really responsive bass and I love the tone of it palm muted and thumb plucked, or with a bit of foam under the strings. Plus, I have such a blast playing it that it makes me play differently to my usual bass.
That right there is what makes me want to get one. The fact that I can't go to a music store and grab one is what's holding me back at the moment.

Yeah, I'm already in the Bass Hoarding Personality Disorder (BHPD) - You are not alone., so I figure eventually I'll pick up a Mini P.
I just like to get my hands on a bass before I buy, and I live tantalizingly close to Sweetwater. The thing that's going around has kept me from finding my way there and grabbing up one of those little beauties, but that's only going to last just so much longer.
I like the short scale length, and I've played a MiKro, so I know what those are like. Just want to try out one of these before pouncing. Currently stuck between black and red. If they come out with a green or blue, I'm sunk.

sam ash takes "no questions asked" returns, and they really didn't ask me on my two returns. sweetwater charged me a very reasonable amount on my recent return, and it was worth it. i was able to ship it from my front porch, no contact with the fedex guy.
Does anyone know if the Squier Mini-P neck fits the Fender Mini-P? I have the Fender Mini-P and it needs a new neck.
I guess I'll have to find out by experiment. At that price, why not? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

If you mean the Fender Precision Junior, it does advertise the same scale length as the Squier Mini-P, which is the first step toward success.
Now whether the neck pocket is of the same dimensions, THAT is what could make or break your plan.
Surely the info must be posted somewhere on TB, yes ?
And as you know if you own one, the strings on yours go through the body, where on the Squier Mini-P they do not.
This will not matter to changing the neck though.

Indeed, the neck pocket is my concern. I couldn't find anything about this on TB. The Juniors are a little rare.
I ordered a Mini-P. If it doesn't fit, I'll have a Mini-P.

New pickguard from earlpilanz on eBay, some black knobs and mute switch added.
Next step will be to take the strings through-body to make them longer so I can use standard 30" scale strings.
And - if you haven't seen them, there are 2 videos on YouTube of this bass with the new Relentless pickups from DiMarzio installed. WOW! What a difference.

Nice personal touch there! Looks like the pickguard fits well.
How is the mute switch wired up? Does it simply send the white wire from the pickups to ground?
I'm a big fan of the stock pickups with Chromes. So much deeper and much louder than any of my other basses. Is it just my Mini or are they all like that?

The pick guard color is called Black/Orange Shell. Fits 99.9%. Only a couple of the screw holes were a little off center.
The mute switch goes across the output jack terminals to short the output. I do this on all my passive basses. So handy to not have to lose your settings to mute the bass between takes or sets.
And yes - it really is quite loud! I am looking forward to a set of pressurewounds when i get the string-through worked out.
