That looks terrible. And it's a Jazz cover anyway, it has no place on a P bass.

The Squier Mini Precision Bass Club

I was a little curious, and found it kind of interesting... but I think you are right, and lowplaces too.
Gonna end up giving that cover away I think. Otherwise I'm gonna find it again in another 10 years and still be stumped by it.
Definitely appears it would make a much better ashtray than a cover.
While I also wouldn't presume to tell anyone what to do with their axe, I think expressing opinions on an open forum/discussion board is not only fair game, its basically the point of them. Soooo.......IMHO, that bridge cover looks absurdly large and diaproportionate on the diminutive Mini P. It was worth a shot, I'd have tried it myself, but then I'd yank it quick.

Squier Mini P (28.6" scale) strings: a roundwound option + a LaBella flat alternative (Pyramid Gold)
TWIMC - mainly Europe-based owners of the Squier Mini Precision:
I have recently come upon an aptly-sized alternative to the La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass Flat 760FM-P specialty set, within about the same price bracket, in the following Pyramid Gold set
Pyramid Gold Orchester E-Bass Satz (kleine Größen) von Pyramid
As you can see,
- the set is marketed for very small children-sized double basses
- the word "electric" clarifies that, in terms of construction, these are normal Pyramid Gold strings (solid steel core - hex-shaped save for the low E which is round; chrome-nickel flat ribbon; no silk inlay)
- there are two versions, one for 1/16 upright, the other for 1/32.
From personal communication with Max Junger
(read: I wrote him a random email - I have no connection to the man nor the company),
I gathered the following additional info:
- ball-ends for both versions are bass-guitar sized (as opposed to the typical large ball-ends that double bass strings sport)
- winding length, from ball to start of headstock silk, and gauges for the 1/16 version are, respectively, 33.27" and 40-55-75-100; in other words, this version is the same as the normal 640 Beatle-bass set (except maybe for a slightly longer silked section at the bridge end, which can be easily trimmed back)
- pertinently to this thread, the 1/32 version (item no. ST.SL.PY:3500#SI:32) has 30.315" full-gauge winding length ball-to-silk, with some extra under the silk (which, per the pictures in this post, means enough to clear the nut on the Mini P) and gauges 50-66-88-111.
Many TBers are aware of Pyramid being available for custom jobs; however, some may prefer an off-the-shelf option. So yeah, just an FYI.

Regarding roundwounds that are the right length for the Squier Mini P -
an inexpensive option is the lowest four strings (46-64-80-105) from the Ernie Ball 2628 (9-String Slinky) electric guitar set, which has recently been confirmed to have 31" winding length ball-to-taper for the largest string.
[Stoppers of some sort (washers, old bass ball-ends) may be required in order for the small, guitar ball ends to stay put at the bridge.]

An opportunity came around to purchase a fellow TBer's bass that I sometimes bug him about to let me have first crack at it if he ever wants to let it go and he messaged me today letting me know his intentions to sell it. Now the hard part comes as I have to let another one of my Basses go to make this happen. As much as it pains me, I'll be posting up my newly finished modded custom Red mini P in the classifieds sometime this week. I'll still have my other Mini P that my tech currently has as he is completing the new body for it. But I will reluctantly part with this one for now. I just installed the Lace Sensor Man-O-War pickup in it as it sounds much better than the Relentless pickup that I originally had in this when I finished it. I'll keep the mini club posted when I put it up in the classifieds here on TB.

Productionwise, nothing's changed. Still making and selling. Kind of sad that there haven't been any new colors added to the roster. Even the new Squier Sonic series has some limited edition colors available.

So can I ask a small favor of the group members here?
Can someone give me a measurement from the nut to the 12th fret on their mini P? Just wanting to compare to a Bronco neck for a build idea. I realize the Mini has 20 frets and the Bronco has 19, just wondering if I could get that and see if the saddles on one of my parts basses would be able to accomdate this change without moving the bridge.
