Isn't that gizmo meant to add impedance "back"? I though it was to add the missing impedance that wireless systems don't have that an instrument cable does.

Or maybe it does both?

I'm not sure how it works. It's a passive thing, and doesn't require power. No battery.

To my ears it is like a presence control on an amp. I just use it with passive p/ups and an instrument cable, and set it how it sounds best.

When I bought mine, the description on their site mentioned it would help with long cable runs but I don't see it there now.

The difference is quite noticeable when I swap cables manually, which takes a few seconds. An A/B recording test would be immediate and even clearer.

My Mini P has harsh treble. The coily cable helps a bit. I play a Rumble 100 with treble at 9 o'clock and upper mids up all the way up. Vintage is off because the Mini also has massive low end. Chromes also retain high end. I usually roll the Tone knob down to 6 on the bass. I bet Labellas would help get rid of more treble.

No harm in trying. I've thought about using thrust bearings so that the strings can rotate more freely when they're being installed, but that's probably overengineering or solving a problem that's not really there.

Mine has the silk over the saddles. No issues. Are you sure the string is not twisted?
Also what strings are those? I've never seen flats without the silk.

I don't think it's twisted. I've detuned it enough to make sure a couple of times.

Have the same set with the same situation, no real issues. Tried adjusting pickup height? Sometimes a small tweak can clear it up a bit.

I have adjusted them to Fender specs as well as higher and lower.

Initially it was fine when I had the action crazy low. But when I readjusted the action higher so I could really dig in, I had to adjust the saddle back to intonate the string.

I'll just run over to the hardware store this afternoon and get some washers. May have to re-intonte, but no biggie.

I love the feel of the LaBellas.

With the treble at 9 and the mids at 10 is a harsh sound’s solution really a coiled/longer cord?

a warmoth p I built I put a .1uf cap in and it really rolls the top off. I’m putting another one together now with a .047uf cap…. But this one will have rounds and a different pickup so a true comparison will be impossible…. It will be brighter though!

As I said the coily cable helps. I think the Mini has a 0.047uF cap. I don't think a larger cap would help, it really makes a difference when it's all rolled off but I never play like that.

3/8" nut did the trick. E string sounds much better.

I picked up my finished Red Mini P project from the tech yesterday and it turned out very, very nice. He installed the brass nut, Maple wood inlay dots and did a final setup for me. Since I like rounds, I have a set of short scale DR stainless steel Hi-Beams on it. I will be spending my Sunday off playing it.

I kinda have the Black one still.... My tech is actually making me a solid one piece Mahogany body for the neck that I will just do a natural oil finish on it without a pickguard. I have a cream DiMarzio model P pickup with a Nordstrand 2b preamp that I am going to install in it. I ended up using the Spalted Maple pickguard, and relentless pickup/controls from the Black mini and put it on the little Red. I'll use the chrome Hipshot hardware from the Black mini on the replacement Mahogany body. Here is a pic below of the new Mahogany mini body in progress. He was going to be done with it by now but we had a full month of 110+ degree weather here in Vegas and it was a bit to hot for the Tech to be in his garage with his wood working tools. He said he should be getting back to it in the next few weeks when it drops down below 100...Desert summers are not fun.

Now that I played it more... one more thing I noticed is that the stock strap buttons are super small. This is probably not a bass meant to be swung around your neck or whatever cool tricks everyone else can do but me.

So... I found a bridge cover that I did not know I had... so of course I placed it on my new mini. I don't know what I think about it yet. I think it's just going to sit in the box for another 20 years. lol

I never tell others what to do or not with mods, but no way I could deal with that because I palm mute often. I also like playing near the bridge at times as well.
