it should work. I actually replaced my pots with full sized pots. They fit without needing to modify the cavity, but it is tight. They need to be oriented just right.
I got one of these. Wow. Fun! So much so that I picked up the mini strat as well. I'm thinking I'll put it in gig rotation with my Alembic, Lakland and G&L basses just to see what the reaction is.

I traded into a mini Strat a few years back, and was surprised at what a cool little player it was. It didnt even need intonating !
But, after playing it exclusively for maybe a week, I grabbed my trusty bedside Tele, and that thing felt HUGE !! it messed my playing up completely, LOL!
I decided right then I had to let it go.
But the Mini P was kind of the opposite. I started playing bass in my late 50s, partly because of (presumably) age related decrease in hand strength on the guitar, but eventually found the reach and tension on a full sized bass to be an issue, so I moved down (in scale length) to a Bronco, and from there down to the Mini P, which seems to suit my now 60 year old fingers pretty well.

I’m experiencing a scaling surprise too, after getting my first bass my tele seems tiny. Can’t wait to try my son’s mini P!
Their new mini Jazzmaster is 1000 times better than the mini Strat. The size fits perfectly against the body and the pickups are fabulous. I got a white one I'm turning into a mini Jaguar:
A Mini Jaguar bass would be way too incredibly cool.
They already did a short scale Jag that's very sweet at 30". I think this really short scale thing is a bit of an experiment for Fender, so who knows? If I didn't already post it, here's my SS Jag:
Not sure if you did this already. If you file too low you can always fill a slot back in with the CA glue/baking soda trick.

Several years ago I bought a mini Strat for my son to learn on. That guitar was awful in every way. Ended up with a Squier Duo-Sonic, which was much, much better. Guitar didn't "stick" with him so now I own neither.
Since folks are talking about other mini Squiers... if Fender ever made a Mini-J, in the same scale as the Mini-P, I would buy that in a heartbeat.

My first 5-string bass was a Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass V, which I bought back in 2016. I eventually gave it to a local friend who plays guitar and has a small studio in his house. It's the only 5-string Jaguar Bass ever made by Fender. It also has PJ pickups with passive features. It was a great deal at the time for under $300. They're rare to get nowadays as the VM series discontinued in 2018.

The J&D mini jazz is what you need. It's out of stock at DV247 at the moment, but should be back mid-Jan.
Mine have factory and RS77s (which just fit on the silks) - both nice. When they're back in the idea of another one with DTFs is tempting: those basses are so cheap!
