The 2 mini P's that I have purchased over the last few years have both been good and able to get low action with room to spare on the saddles.
Maybe the neck pocket on yours was routed to deep. Always worries me about the QC on these mini's but seems they are consistent from the feedback on this thread. Bummer you got one with that issue though.

Hi,of the 2 mini p's I have bought,and defretted ,one had a shim on the inside 2 holes of the pocket.and the other had none.If your neck pocket is too deep no harm in using shims to bring it to the level you need just keep side to side thicknesses even and neck length and surface level to the surface of the body.I would ask Bruce Johnson at Luthiers cornner for expert advice.I am just an amature,in the learning process of building my own fretless basses.Everyone at Luthiers corner is a blessing to us out here in TB Land.

i seem to recall reading somewhere that mr. fender designed the neck joint with shimming in mind so players could get the action where they wanted it. i've got 10 bolt-on basses, and i think i've shimmed 7 of them, including my mini.
on both my Mini Ps I used a small high mass bridge not P bass size,with lower thinner saddles and dropped them down as low as I could without it buzzing.my action is as low as I can get it .And I’m fretless.The neck should be level with the body face.There is many factors in this equation.How you play .Do you dig or touch strings strumming?,Releif dosnt set your action.I would find a good luthier and tell him what you want.Luthiers corner here atTB can help you .Ask Bruce Johnson how he would go about making your bass yours.He is always so helpful.Good luck

Welcome Back! I see you got a Black one this time around. I'm surprised they haven't come out with any other colors since the Mini P is a good seller for the Squier brand.

i'd like to see one with a sunburst. failing that, lake placid blue is a fine color, and silver would rock. i might have gotten a silver one. and lake placid blue is super!
i'm 67 and 5' 4" with arthritis and shoulder damage, so i have a couple 30" scale broncos, a 28.6" scale ibanez mikro, but oddly my most comfy bass is a 34" spector. the body just works for me as does the 24 fret neck. go figure!

I have EMG Gzr P and DiMarzio DP122. Which one would you put on Mini P?

I shimmed mine. The saddles were near bottomed out. Action was ok but the break angle over the saddles bugged me.
Didn't take long. I just used a capo to hold the strings on the tuners.
