I ordered a set of flats, in those specs from them.

Wait. What? That shouldn't happen, as that wouldn't fit a Mikro, either. Are you sure it wasn't something silly like the ball end not seating the whole way?
It's not that.
Read some reviews at Amazon. There are several cases of it reported. Among the stock, there are bad sets incorrectly manufactured.

My new pickguard material has arrived and I am taking it over today to have the pickguard made. And I must say the brown tort I ordered off Amazon looks MUCH better in person than in the photos on the website. I will post pics when I get get it back and have it installed. Should be just a couple of days![]()
if there would be an easy way to fab a pickguard cap instead of a full thickness pickguard.
~For me, for strings for this bass, we have a winner:
ENR71 DD Halfs.
I'm mad at myself for losing track of these strings. I discovered them a very long time ago, and used them often. At some point, I lost track of them, and my ever failing memory is not telling me why.
Anyway, they feel and sound great on this bass. And the E cut and wrapped around the post without incident.
Done.
~45 to 100. No use of tapers. Main part of all strings is wrapped around the post.
I love them. They sound instantly broken in.

Do they sound/feel like flats at all?45 to 100. No use of tapers. Main part of all strings is wrapped around the post.
I love them. They sound instantly broken in.
Note to self: replace the munchkin strap buttons or at the very least get some of those Grolsch rubber rings, the upper horn kept falling out of the strap.
Just a quick recording session with a couple of friends. We played Harvest Moon by Neil Young and Somebody To Love by Jefferson Airplane. The Chromes were just perfect and I got used to the lower tension very quickly. My friend made fun of how small the Mini is but I am secure in my masculinity. The strap buttons are too small - I replaced mine.
Great you had a gig!
Do they sound/feel like flats at all?
~They [half round / ground strings] are literally in the middle of rounds and flats. Both in feel and in tone.
Outstanding.
I don’t know what tool is used for a pick guard but I was wondering: if there would be an easy way to fab a pickguard cap instead of a full thickness pickguard.
The thought is that just a thin cap is made that gets installed on top of the existing guard. That eliminates the task of taking the other pickguard off which for me led to breaking the wiring.
?
I love those old school guys! The guy I took the guard material uses very old methods for everything. When I was over there yesterday he showed me how he makes guitar necks and shapes them with a hand file! He had a bunch of his custom built guitars and lots of vintage guitars that he has either owned since new ('65 Strat that he bought new when he was 9) or restored (1952 Ibanez acoustic). He is particularly into restoring Teisco guitars.
So on my pickguard he is going to cut it manually and then bevel the sides with a hand file. It's what he does and he says he doesn't care about the time it takes.
We were also talking yesterday about the possibility of him building a custom short scale bass for me LOL!
