I found the Fender P Bass wiring diagram. I'm just going to use that. It'll be fine. I like learning stuff like this.

I paid €52 (euro) (about US $60.49) for Pyramid Chrome-Nickel Flatwound Strings for Fender Mini-Bass

I think the price may have gone up 5% at the start of Oct.
I put short scale Chromes on my Mini, 45-65-80-100 ECB81S Chromes | Bass Guitar Strings | D'Addario
The E wraps around the post with the thickest part for a 1/4 turn, no issue there. The other 3 strings wrap properly with the tapered silk part. The silk goes over the bridge saddles of the E and A strings. I haven't peeled it back. Sounds fine to me.

As much as I value the information which you have gathered and provided by doing this, my shortest scale basses are each regular 30" scale [now own 5 of those, BTW
], so I could get the standard short scale Pyramid flats if I wished.But I just ordered some LaBella DT flats [43-104 gauges] last week for a couple of them, because I liked the sound and feel of their short scale LT flats [42-100] which I had put on my Hofner Ignition Club bass.

i dunno about that. i have two mikros, and both sounded fine - no complaints, but i got the second one to mod, so we dropped 2 fender jazz pickups in it, and WHAM! it sounds a-freaking-mazing!
I usually don’t mind stock pickups, even in cheap basses, but I thought the stock pickup in the mini was pretty weak. It was a bit improvement IMO to upgrade to the Seymour Duncan.
And nothing else was changed? Same ol' strings? Pickups in the exact same position/orientation? IIRC, didn't you have to "slant" the pickups to make them fit? A 2mm change in pickup position can result is a drastic change.
Also, one would expect some changes going from one type of pickup to another: split coil to humbucker, mudbucker to piezo, J to H, etc. Or, in this case, PJ to JJ.
Swapping a split coil on a P, not so much.
I stand by my original statement, with a slight modification: unless your original pickup is horrible, replacing a pickup with another pickup of the same type, in the same position will not give gross changes in sound.

Standard Pyramid (as well as Höfner-branded) "short-scale" strings should be thought of as "short-plus": they have a ~33.5" winding length, ball to taper, and are actually too long for many regular 30"-scale basses, unless the latter have separate tailpieces (opportunely spaced from the bridge), string-through-body paths, or at least an E-string tuner that is unusually distant from the nut.
(They however fit most Beatle basses, with their trapeze tailpiece, perfectly.)

Also they would fit Hofner Club basses, and I expect other brands which are constructed with a similar bridge and tailpiece, such as the Epiphone Viola bass.
DR's short scale bass strings are cut to about that length too.
And of course LaBella makes a special scale length for those basses, though with that said, I ordered short scale LaBellas [32.25" of wrap, according to mfr] for my Hofner Ignition Club after measuring it, and they fit.

i messaged the guy, and we're all waiting for you to put yours on your bass before he sells them. he wants to be sure it fits.
how is that pricy? it barely costs more than a pickguard blank...
That's actually kind of cheap. Obviously, there are under £20 pickguards out there for Ps and Js. For anything other than a "standard" P or J, £35 is the low end of the curve.
I hope it gets here this week. I'm leaving for a trip on Friday. Won't be back til Tuesday.
