I'll be honest, the pickguard is not my cup of tea and I don't think it matches the sunburst but you did an incredible job. The walnut plug for the truss rod is a nice touch.
Also, your tool shed looks really groovy.

Yes, sand it all off. If the dust is white, you've still got more to go. You can rub a slightly damp rag across the neck to see the spots you missed. The wood will absorb the water and be darker than the areas that still have finish on it.
I agree with you. I liked it better on the black. It's much better looking than the stock one-ply, though. I'm still trying to get a gold anodized pg made for it, but all my shops are busy/behind.
Squier Mini P is done (for now?...).
Mods: DiMarzio Model P pickups, Hipshot Kickass bridge, GHS Precision Flats, Dunlop Straploks, Levy's strap, black knobs, custom leopard pickguard (made it with adhesive paper).
Thing absolutely growls. The dichotomy between its weight and beefy sound is incredible.
Took a while to get intonation right (stoked to have that bridge accordingly) and a better gearing on the tuning machines would be nice (bonus.. get black Hipshots someday) but I think this project is good for now.

I was going to suggest Ultralites.
But on 2nd thought, if they were Ultralites, I reckon that the [already lightweight] bass would just float away.
Seriously though, I forget whether this has been covered - does a stock Squier Mini-P have any neck dive ?

If I let it go completely with both hands it would dive a little bit... but it's so lightweight, when you're holding it, you don't notice. With the Ultralites, it's even less noticeable.
@pistonrod8 .. specifically which are those? Looks like 1/2" is correct but making sure with you they aren't 3/8" should I decide to make that change and a string retainer in black...

Mine's like that as well but I do feel the neck tugging a bit, especially after a while. The body is so tiny
