Coincidentally I just finished reading his 1993 book Star Trek Memories. It's a very good read for anyone with more than a passing interest in Star Trek. He admits to some of his personal failings. Nichelle Nichols is quoted and she really let him have it. James Doohan was so bitter toward Shatner that he refused to be interviewed for the book.

Shatner is probably worth tens of millions (not gonna look it up). He should just anonymously contribute enough to the GoFundMe to get it over the top if it isn't already there. It would be chump change for him.

Those "celebrity net worths" supposedly factor in things like real estate so it might not all be easily liquid. In the case of alleged elder abuse against Nichelle Nichols, apparently someone was appointed as the fiduciary custodian for her assets some years ago because she wasn't able to do it herself any more. The fiduciary(ies) are accused of basically stealing from her over the years to the point where she's now essentially broke.

Anyway, if you Mr. Shatner are reading this, do something.

They're a crew, as nerdy as that sounds. That means something, or it should. It wasn't just a TV show. It changed the world and they were all a part of that.

I also follow Shatner. I have read the messages people are actually sending him and the majority are awful. The recipients are getting exactly what they deserve.

Absolutely. Those Twitter warriors are ridiculous. But I'm just surprised he gets so involved especially at his age.

This is precisely why I stopped following Shatner and Takei and don’t do any Twitter at all now. It’s brutal. I don’t need it. And I don’t want to know what my Star Trek heroes are really like.

I don't think any of them besides Shatner and Nemoy ever had much to live on from the ST work. What a douchebag.

DeForest Kelley was apparently very good with his money--& Trek helped a lot
Which is one of the reasons he did a lot less acting than Nimoy & Shatner--Shatner went through a divorce & did a lot of the TV shows & movies in the 70s to make money--and Nimoy had a similar period.
Kelley didn't need to.

This Gilbert Bell guy who's been handling Nichelle Nichols' finances for years had financial power of attorney. He's accused of taking out a reverse mortgage on Nichols' house and absconding with most if not all the money. So she doesn't own her house. I doubt the net worth figure of $8M is even remotely close to reality.

Lock him up! (if he's guilty of course)
