It really does. The Battle of the Binary Stars looked fantastic. Aside from the quality of the CG, I loved how the two opposing sides weren't firing at each other as if space was flat. The Starfleet ships came at the Klingons from underneath. There's a moment in the TNG finale where the future Enterprise D comes at the Klingons from under them. I remember seeing it when I was a kid and how awesome it was.

I'm seriously considering getting the TNG blue rays. I don't own any physical media any more but it looks so good.

I meant to say the icing looks great coming out of the tube. Basically the same thing.

Friend of mine into TNG keeps going on and on about how good the remastered Blu-rays look. I’m tempted.

You should, eventually CBS will pull all Star Treks from all other sites leaving you to pay them exclusively to watch.

I am surprised they are still available on Netflix. Though any day now...

All the big media companies like Disney and CBS/Paramount/Viacom (or whatever they’re calling themselves now) want all the money. They see no need to share any of it with companies like Netflix. That doesn’t necessarily mean consumers automatically get screwed. It just means making decisions about what’s most important to us to have access to.

You're right. And they're still on Amazon. I think the only reason it's not exclusively on CBS already is because the future of the franchise is so uncertain and maybe CBS won't own it all in the near future.

I don’t know about Star Trek specifically. But Netflix and Amazon are granted licenses to make the content available for fixed periods of time. So Netflix may have the right to TNG through say 2020 (I don’t know the details). After that, the licensing contract may not be renewed because hey CBS has their own streaming service now, which they probably didn’t at the time they signed the contract with Netflix.

That’s why stuff comes and goes from Netflix all the time.

Netflix stopped billing through iTunes a while back to save billions from not having to give apple their cut. Eventually it has to get to the point where the content will just stream from one source. There are too many portals that lead to the same content.

The streaming landscape, and cable TV, are kind of merging. I just dropped Netflix and SlingTV because I just don't have time to watch it all. I dropped CBS All Access after Picard ended. Right now I'm focused on getting through Lost again (on Blu-ray). I have Amazon Prime and Apple TV+, don't need anything else for the time being.

I've said it before but the one good thing about the pricing plans for streaming is you can drop in and out on a monthly basis. I wonder what the "churn" rate is for CBS All Access, Netflix, etc.

I’m about 2/3 of the way through season two of Enterprise. I’m enjoying it so far but, man, the members of the crew sure seem to get arrested a lot! Chalk it up to interstellar naïveté?

Exactly. They don't know. The prime directive hasn't been established. They're relying on Vulcan information which would have them stay on the ship but they go down anyway. There are some great moments in the first two seasons that lead to the necessity of the prime directive.

I was gonna say it'll probably be a while before they pull the series from Netflix and Amazon, but it could happen any moment. The only reasonable thing to do is for @Jeremy Crockett and @Ayce to stop what they're doing and binge watch Star Trek.

That was my worry for the last year.
Just started Enterprise and The Wife wants to watch it together like we did Voyager last year (when I stayed awake, fell asleep watching it a lot on the pre Seven episodes. They got better once the Borg story evolved and the hippy left.) but she is taking her time watching maybe one episode a week. Sometimes not even one...

We need to do an episode or two a night and get it done before it is pulled.
This has always been and is still my worry since the start of the CBS All Access only shows, they know the fans will pay to watch. They did for Discovery and Picard.
CBS is not getting new memberships for people wanting to watch "The Good Wife".

It will one day all be in one place. The fans will pay.

Yes but it all worked out in the end when the stuntman left the scene and they gave Kirk a plastic pipe with which to lightly hit Khan on the his back. See that's any super human's weakness: a plastic pipe to the upper back.

I typically don't like animated series, though there are a few exceptions. I'm finding Lower Decks to be one of those. It's entertaining, in a mildly funny and childish way.
