The stoner/doom bassists thread...

Very cool! Tunes are sweet; Loving the riffs. And man.., that Holy Days Aren't Here Again gave me all kind of chills.
Real interesting flanger effect you got going there on Ivory Tusk. I also enjoyed that thing you did before the solo on the first track. What was that? Wah, phase, or some other kind of wierd low or band pass filter?

Thanks! I had been trying flange, phase, chorus and anything else I could find that had the right swishy sound before settling on an EBS phaser. For some reason it sounded like butt when recorded, but the producer had some flange plug-in that sounded awesome.

And that's my girlfriend's EBS wah on "Colossus". I normally hate bass wah, but that might have me convinced to buy one...

Great writeup, it isn't often the bassist gets called out for something other than being a showman! :bassist:

Thanks! I joined up with these guys in January, had time to learn the first record and then learn and write basslines for the second record (this one) in about 6 weeks... I wish I had more time but I'm definitely happy with the results.

That tone came from a Warwick Corvette STD split directly in and through a sansamp BDDI.

We want a Hammond as well...we might do it on the next record. Hitting the studio this weekend.
I strongly encourage it!

No, I meant I LIKED the Hammond! It gave it a grimey-er blues feel too the music. Like it was heavy as s!@#, but you thought dude from Skynyrd was makin appearrance. If that sounds like a compliment? I hope so, cause I meant it that way.
I know... my joking sarcasm flopped.

Hammond tends to make things better.
