I have a prototype based on the tube zipper's envelope follower (the patent was withdrawn so it's free game) but I'm not in love with it.

Any further progress or thoughts on a tube-powered envelope filter? (See what I did there ). Sure would love to hear what you could come up with as I know it would be killer.

I more or less shelved the idea. I had it working but I wasn't excited about it, and if I'm not excited about it then I generally don't want to make it.

I don't expect it will be powerful enough for The Detective, unless you are able to combine multiple ports to send to one pedal. The Finally is *just* on the edge of possible, but even still it's probably a little too high draw for a single port on the PP2.

I wish Venus Z had a gain. It would be exactly what I’m looking for. Could run it just like I do my Finally but then have EQ available if I play my passive basses. A boy can dream. I guess you could run a small clean boost in front of it.

Im running a UA type pedal into my Venus Z. While it doesn’t need it, it sounds REALLY good on its own, the combo sounds glorious. Big deep lows with present mids and a sparkly top end with as much grit as you want.

It likely won't be powerful enough; the 300mA slot on my Walrus Aetos couldn't power an Underground Accelerator properly. Like it worked, but it became extremely noisy.

Definitely not a Detective, and probably not a Finally. I recommend 400mA for Finally and 600mA for Detective, and the Pedal Power 2 looks like it can only do 250mA.

I will say the ones that have had the most recejt attention are Grand Slampegg and Furthermore, but I don't have an expected release date of either one yet. The new Grand Slampegg prototype boards arrived Thursday, but they're still not ready to go.

My Finally v2 just arrived and I'm excited to put it through the paces. This is my first tube "pedal".

I've got a bunch of outdoor gigs this summer in the hellish Texas heat. Should I be concerned about anything in particular using this pedal in such high ambient heat? Thanks!

Finally v2 arrived and I have a question. If the knob near the xlr is fully on there is a volume loss going to the 1/4 plug, is that right? I assumed that was volume for the d.i. and not for the 1/4 inch out.
Also the Gain knob is scratchy sounding. Strange for a new pot.

I'm not sure how much of a winner Slampegg is for mids, someone else may have to speak to that, but it's still a passive tonestack which makes mids tricky. I know you said you don't need a D.I., but currently Venus Z is the only thing I have capable of actually boosting mids.

the slampegg is beautiful with low and treble turned all the way down. its a studio favorite.

I wouldn't worry, vacuum tubes are rated to operate at temperatures much higher than that. Take care of yourself though, humans can't withstand as much heat as tubes can.

There is some interactivity between the XLR level and 1/4" output because they're coming off the same tap, which is why I always recommend setting the XLR level first and leaving it before dialing in the 1/4" output. FOH level is something you're going to set-and-forget, you should be tweaking that during the gig, but adjusting the 1/4" level will not affect the XLR output.

With regards to the scratching, what power supply are you using? I would be shocked if this was mechanical pot scratching vs electrical scratching. One is caused by dirt in the pot, which is extremely unlikely as these are brand new sealed pots. The other is caused by stray voltage making its way to the wiper, one cause of which is dirty power, another being from an inadvertent short. If it's a power issue there are a number of good power supplies out there, I just recommend at least 400mA output. If there's some other underlying electrical issue it's definitely something I should take a look at.

Mine does the same, I find that if I turn the XLR dial back by the smallest amount it seems to stop the volume loss to the 1/4" out without any noticeable changes to the XLR volume. It's only really something I noticed since swapping to a 12AU7 as then I run the dials up nearer to max, with the 12AX7 I had the dials far lower.
