The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I would recommend using the XLR output of the Finally v3 into the Rolls, as that is essentially a tube preamp into a passive D.I. There are no internal volume controls on Finally v2, but the knob on the side of the pedal goes all the way from 0 to 10, so if you're worried about overdriving the input start with it all the way off and bring it up slowly until it's at the level you want.

I will also add that while Finally v3 is capable of a reasonably "hot" output and it is capable of overdriving the inputs to some devices, it is not capable of outputting enough current to actually cause electrical damage to anything, so that shouldn't be a concern.
Thanks for the info Nathan, greatly appreciated.

I would buy this in a heartbeat. What tone stack are you thinking?
I would lean towards a baxandall/james stack. I tried one in a Finally a couple years ago and really liked it, I still have the prototype sitting on a shelf in the shop.

I personally think it is about time we had a May Day release in the C2CE shop, hopefully Nathan can organize that without too much delay. :bassist::hyper::hyper:
I was hoping you were coming by to analyze the teaser picture I posted, but yeah I've been working on it. I should have it done soon.

"Based on the placement of things it looks like a 125B enclosure, and because we can see the logo size and location there we can assume there's no footswitch so it's probably some kind of preamp/D.I., but will need more context for more information."

I already know the new C2CE PCB is for a 1590BB enclosure and it is not very likely to be a DI at all, I guess you also realize you can never tell me any secrets because I will explode if I don't let it out. I have already hinted at what it will be but I think it will be too hard to figure it out beforehand with the hints I have accidentally on purpose let slip out, I am checking the C2CE store at least twice a day in case it is released so I'm being very patient.
The picture of the new PCB is not in a forum linked to C2CE or Sushi so I doubt many people have seen yet, I just look at so many forums so I found it by accident this time
I am wondering how I am going to order 2 new PCB's and a Tarantula Fuzz on the same order.

I wonder if everyone realizes that you actually sell completed pedals on the C2CE web shop as well, if anyone is after a Bass Dude with a DI, Lab Rat or a Nobelium there are some in the C2CE shop right now with the C2CE logo on them.

Cheers
Mick

You must have missed my instagram post, that’s what I was referring to. You’re correct that the new C2C project is definitely not a preamp/D.I. and is 1590BB sized.

Sushi followers,

I have a Venus Z that I bought as a DI and for the EQ and HPF controls it adds - for what it works perfectly, and apparently, in a very transparent way.
That's to say, with all EQs at noon and HPF off, I cannot hear any difference out of the pre 1/4 or XLR out or the dry ones.
Good or bad, is that what I should expect or should I have some tube/tranformer color to the pre outputs (that I am not perceiving)?
It comes with a 12AX7 and cannot be driven by itself unless I get a boost in front of it.

Tks!

Venus Z was designed to be a clean sounding pedal with a high threshold with the intent of not saturating. It is possible to goose the input by using a gain device but the result might not be pleasing like a vintage circuit. I would suggest using an overdrive or distortion to get a saturated tone.

Am I right to think that all Underground Accelerators in silver enclosures are the v2 model?
Silver case with stock artwork it would be to my mind a v3 or later revision. Originally the UA had a full face art design but was available in custom colors for a limited time iirc. V2 added the tone stack bypass and also had a hand wired option but iirc only stock artwork. V3 was the current standard artwork on a plain silver case. Subsequent redesign added an improved bypass soft switch and upgraded film capacitors.

There isn't a distinct "v2" for Underground Accelerator, though there have been a fair number of revisions over the years. If you can post a pic if the circuit board I can give info on the circuit compared to the current version.

Transparent is not typically a word I would use to describe Venus Z, and there should be a very noticeable difference in tone between bypassed and preamp on

I did more A/Bs, there is indeed a pleasant difference that I was not paying attention by just leaving the press on. Not sure if the transformer works only for the DI, though.
For saturation, would it work better to have a drive before or after the Venus?
Tks

The transformer is only for the DI. For saturation I would recommend putting it before the Venus to push the tube a little bit. That way what you're getting is tube saturation, rather than a tube pushing a solid-state device into saturation.

can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Same, I honestly wonder what it will be. I have 6-7 ideas floating around in various stages of completion and I have no idea how many will get finished and what they'll look like. Sometimes I get to surprise myself like "oh cool, I actually ended up making this."
