On a related note, building the exact same pedal a bunch of times is sooooo much easier than doing everything custom. Just want you to know the sacrifice I make for you all

As soon as they're done They don't take long to put together, but I don't think I have enough knobs for the whole rainbow treatment, so that's a must. I'm trying to get my orders out for October tonight or tomorrow, so I should have everything I need to finish them within the week, so maybe have them ready for sale next weekend. I will of course let everyone know when they're going to drop.

I agree - it’s super shocking that a builder of a current production pedal would be upset that someone ripped off his stuff. Absolutely insane. Where do people get off? I mean, everyone’s R&D is just buying someone else’s pedal/preamp copying it and then selling it right?

Pro-tip: whenever you see someone justify their actions by saying “but it’s perfectly legal”, they’ve crossed an ethical line.

I write "referencing" because even though quotations were used, it's not a direct quote.

Some lines got blurred here sadly . The original complaint came from Night Owl to a reseller of a SB Westinghouse . While he may have had a valid complaint about the description of the pedal - he handled it’s very poorly at best . By then SB had already stopped production anyway so the few that may float around the. re sale market are hardly a threat to Night Owl’s prized baby . Then in a very classy move Nathan offered to buy back any Westinghouse’s that the owners felt queasy about owning .
Is there a line here where reverse engineering becomes problematic . Yes I’m sure there is but the question is “ how accurate is the reproduction to the original ? “ In the case of the Westinghouse I think it can be said that the SB version is different enough to qualify as its own thing . But I will leave that to the engineers to decide as to how to parse that line . ..... Kelly

Do yourself a favor, google "EF86 tube preamp pedal", and note how many different manufacturers make them. As stated before in this thread, "N.O." is not the first to "invent" the concept of the EF86 pedal, and I'm sure some part of his pcb design was influenced by someone else's pcb that had been done prior to the "invention" of the Edison. Depending on how far down the rabbit hole you'd like to take this, perhaps Paul Eisler, who invented printed circuit boards in 1936, should be sending out nasty letters to anyone who bought a product built around a PCB?

I've lost count, but at some point I need to hook every SB pedal I have upto my bench power supply and turn it all on at once to see what it draws

Been traveling light and easy recently. I'm loving the sound of the Doc Lloyd PDR -> SBFX UA -> Lighting Boy TI box -> split to FOH and to my Hartke HD508. Hits like a sledgehammer and still sounds smooth.

I’m running into my Rumble 500c. Every other amp I have is either all tube or hybrid. It does the Fender Justice. I am now running a UA in place of the PAX.

With the gain set high, does it get into overdrive territory? Or more of a "warmth and harmonic richness" tone?
