Fun anecdote: I work in the defense/aerospace industry which is overflowing with acronyms. It's common sometimes to make "back-ronyms" where you make up the acronym first then decide what it stands for to make it fit. At my last job a couple friends and I had a proposal for a project that we were trying to get funding for so we decided to come up with a cool name and acronym for it to make it catchy, and one of my most proud successes of my career was the back-ronym I came up with:
Binaural Audio Tactical System for Integrated Guided Naval Aviation Logistics
That's right, BATSIGNAL.
Needless to say our project beat out a dozen or so others to get funding.
