Brassmaster in a normal-sized enclosure with a LPF on the clean blend would be great. I love my Latent Lemon BM clone but it is HUGE, and the Bass control is a full-range clean blend which works but a low-passed blend is better IMO. And knobs instead of switches for the Brass 1/2 and Harm 1/2 controls (I guess those are probably filters of some kind?).

Thanks everyone for your input, lots of reading for me to do So I'm looking at the Brassmaster, and it looks very doable. All the components I would need are readily available, and it would be easy enough to knock out in a normal size enclosure. I could definitely do a low-passed clean blend, and I absolutely see the use of that. The Brass 1/2 and Harm 1/2 switches have a little more going than I thought, so I'm not sure if they could be turned into knobs without changing the functionality, but it's something I can look more into.

I was thinking it would be something like the tone switch on an original Super Fuzz, which has been converted to a knob on some SF clones (such as the Idiot Box Ron Swanson). I guess that makes sense when I consider what a strong effect the switches have on the sound of the fuzz.

A rotary switch is a good point though; it doesn't allow you to sweep through options smoothly like a pot would, but it would allow me to add a couple in-between values since the rotary switch can have more than two options. So it wouldn't be infinitely variable, but it would be more variable. I'll take a look at it.

I knew these existed, but the issue with that (aside from the pricetag, yikes!) is that it can't easily mount to the circuit board. I like to keep everything that I can mounted on the board both for ease of assembly and for robustness.

EDIT: I also just noticed this isn't a true triple-gang pot where one knob controls everything, this is three pots stacked on top of each other with individual controls for each

So here's a question: I found an SVT DI schematic (someone on TB posted it a while ago) but nothing on the Khan. I'm assuming they're fairly similar as Khan was engineer with Ampeg during SVT DI's development, but how similar are they? It looks like SVT DI uses a 12AX7 but Khan DI uses 12AU7, is that correct? Anyone ever try both that could offer a comparison?

Pretty sure that the only reason anyone is talking about or suggesting the SVT-DI is because Josh has been talking about making one in the vein of the P-15 and SSDI in the Broughton thread. Seems like there could be a whole lot of things out there to focus on instead?

Trying to buy most of the Broughton pedals is like trying to win the lottery. I much prefer waiting my time in a queue. I for one would definitely be interested in a reasonably priced tube DI pedal. I’m not saying the expensive ones like the Nobel, REDDI or P15 aren’t worth their price. I’m just not willing to pay that much. I now use a Linden and a VT Bass DI. I have a Slampegg on order. Adding a moderately priced tube DI would be great to replace the above pedals on my board.

Literally the reason I started building pedals in the first place I have a friend that is still pushing me to buy a Noble so I can reverse engineer it, but I'm not ready to tie more money up in reverse engineering when I still have an LA-1A sitting on a shelf. I would love to clone the Noble and make it tiny and affordable, but it would take a considerable investment to get there, and $1100 is a hard pitch to my boss (wife).

Anyway, still planning to do something in the vein of the SVT/Khan, likely play with it a bit to make it my own. I'm more focused on the LA-1A and X Series right now, after those are finished I'm planning to tackle a D.I. and a fuzz. One thing at a time

Since a Thru output is simply a parallel of the In, any load connected to a Thru is placed in parallel with the input load of the DI device itself. No way around that.

Unless the Thru is buffered, I think...
