There’s certainly room for all the differing scenarios and you have to respect the creator/builder/owner’s prerogative to run a business the way that works for them. We’re talking about one man shows here, and they have day careers and families that are more important to them than other people’s pedal GAS. I have the utmost respect for the people that are creating these wonderful toys for us to play with. Life is way to short and already stressful enough these days to worry about what isn’t available at the precise instant that I desire it.

Finally some reasoning. I don’t know who started the Broughton vs. Sushi Box thing but it doesn’t need to happen. Josh and Nathan run their businesses in different ways. They both have their pros and cons. That being said, there is no need to bash one or the other because of how they are run.

I think I inadvertently started it and it really wasn't my intent. I have the utmost respect for both and their right to run their businesses how they please. One way of doing things works well for some and not for others, and vice versa. Let's put it to bed and get back to talking about toobz and bacon and such.

Glad I could be your rebound pedal builder

So this is something I've wanted to do for a while and finally got around to finishing it. I've had a lot of people ask me specifically how certain steps of my build process are done, or more just generally how I build pedals the way I do. Well to answer those questions I decided to film every step of the build process for one of the November Slampegg builds and speed it up to a watchable length of 6 minutes (the regular speed video is about 2 hours, nobody wants to watch that).

Firstly, thanks a LOT for this, it was fascinating. And I have a new appreciation for the work you and your contemporaries put into your products.

So, was that you on drums, did you play the other instruments, and did you use any of your own effects?

Also, I like the color scheme of that pedal and want it for my March SlamPegg - which color is it? Is that your future etching method?

The Slampegg I just ordered is matte black, black knobs, purple led and let me tell you I’m PSYCHED .

Well there's a blast from the past, that was one of the first mini tube pedals I ever did. Basically a clean tube preamp with digital reverb in it. I've thought about doing something similar with the same effect processor I use for Robot Butterfly and Echosaurus, but never got excited enough to actually do it. Still could happen though.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it and yes, that was me on guitar, bass, and drums. There's vocals to it too, but where I was looping it I decided to leave them out. The song is called "Monster" and I wrote it about 10 years ago and to date have recorded 11 versions of it

As @Sonicblaze mentioned that is matte black, and that's now my former method of doing artwork that was laser engraved, everything starting next month will be UV printed. I guess I'll have to get a video of that next.

Sunnday Drive intrigues me. If I plunk down on another Sushi that isn’t a compressor, I’ve got my eye on that dude. Downside is the power draw. Wouldn’t be able to power it from my board. Not the end of the world.

I ordered a Sparkle Black thinking that would have less contrast than matte but now rethinking this.

Do you happen to know how the new engraving method will look?

Anyway, these are all secondary things, I consider the ability to choose colors a very special kind of bonus and I'll be happy with whatever I get.

To be clear, the new UV stuff isn't engraving. Its basically a color printer that'll print on the pedals.

I've technically made three (two for November batch and one for me) but none of them have gone through final assembly yet. This should be the first one.

Frankly I can print in whatever color I want. A UV printer is basically just a very specialized inkjet printer, except it uses 5 colors of ink instead of the typical 4 you would expect from a regular printer (it has the ability to print in white as seen above).

That's a good question I don't have a solid answer for. I have two UV printed enclosures I've done, and so far nothing has scratched or damaged them, but I also haven't tried to damage them. I'll do some testing for robustness before I decide.

The illusion finishes and the fractured cherry require a clear coat to get the color to show the way it's supposed to, I may be able to print it before the clear coat, but there are plenty of colors that don't require a clear coat, so I would love to not need to coat everything, but if that's what it takes to keep the artwork looking good, I will do it.

And on that note I'm going to sign off for the evening, I have a lot to do and I'm going ti start shipping november builds tomorrow morning.

I know I said I was signing off for the night, but I just remembered I only answered half of this question.

The clean guitar uses an Echosaurus for the delay, the dirty rhythm guitar and lead both use a Black Eye. There are plenty of fancy things you can do with a rig these days, but honestly Black Eye into the "Classic Rock" patch on a Two Notes Torpedo then straight into the interface is an incredibly usable recorded sound.
