while i dig both pedals, i prefer the driven sound of my Dr Watson over my UA's. it's not that it can get more drive, it's that it's driven sound is more pleasing and has less splat when dimed.

Edit: nixie tubes that have letters are hard to find, thus a tuner using them would be pretty expensive. Oh well. Cool idea though.

Where's the tube tuner?

I actually picked out a tube for a tube tuner project and they're sitting on a shelf, but I have more important things on the to-do list.

They're actually done, I just forgot to update the website to list them in stock. I'll get in and do that now.

Though, out of curiosity (and assuming I'm following your wiring chain!), why do you have the two compressors running one into the other? I usually see dual comps at opposing ends of a board, so I was merely curious.

Sometimes it's useful to have 2 comps together.... if they are set differently in an "either/or" situation (ie used one at a time but not usually together), they may be adjacent to each other....or 1 always on and another set more for special effect.

The chances of 6SL7 in Furthermore are slim as it will have at least 2 (possibly 3) tubes and I still want it to fit on a pedalboard. 6SL7 sound great but they're HUGE (compared to 12A*7).

well once the headphone and cabism stuff are taken out of the drawing i expect two 6sl7 tubes would fit in nicely. they’re dual triodes too, after all.
heck with all the saved space maybe you can fit a nice iron voltage transformer going all the way down to 6v!

this isn’t something for a pedalboard for me, it’s a standalone box, capable of everything needed onstage.
i suspect im not alone. but if people find space for a detective (or any bigger box) they’ll find space for this. it just depends on what’s important to ya.

I go into the Hagerman tube compressor first, then to the Cali, to the UA and the rest of the fx and the finally is at the end of the chain. I don't use both compressors simultaneously, the Hagerman is tube optical and the Cali76 is FET. It gives me a choice depending on what I'm playing. And in some cases I use an A/B switch (not shown here) so I can use my upright with one and my electric to the other when I am doubling.
Nathan is killing me (and will be breaking the bank) with all of the new stuff on the horizon, its exciting to see his company evolve.

Use my Ultrawave like this, 2 compressors can work really well. The more doing slight compression the better (obviously not like 10 in a row haha)

It's not uncommon for pro studio recordings to use two compressors, one feeding into the other, for electric bass guitar.

Totally agree. The UA sounds great at low to moderate drive levels, but Elementary and Wattson both sound more pleasing and musical at higher OD levels. I don’t use my UA for OD at all.

I just ordered a Detective (Elementary + Wattson combo), but as much as everybody is raving about the UA, I might have to check out a UA sometime!

Took a quick break from Venus X to play with my Euclid prototype, featuring a couple custom inductors that Lightning Boy put together for me.

The story with Euclid was basically I found a neat EQ design that I wanted to try out and needed a good platform to put it in, so Euclid is just a More with an interesting EQ. I think I may add another band to it though, I've gotten used to having separate high mids and low mids controls on Venus, now I want to put them in here too.

The plan was that if I liked this EQ enough it would make its way into Furthermore, and it looks like that may well be the case.
