Mmkay, after being out of commission for two months or so, my UV printer is finally back in action, and I just spent some time dialing it in, and it is printing CRISP. I'm still planning to hold off on custom orders until the first batch of Venus X are ready to go, but I should be good to go after that.

This pedal isn't of particular interest to bass, it's a clone of the Matchless Hotbox. PCBs will be available soon to my fellow DIYers if interested.

Do tell. I love my Ambassador. Aside from the size what is different? What’s the 2nd volume? What is different from this’un?

That's a good question. I know some people use acoustic guitar IRs to make piezo pickups sound more acoustic-ish, it would be interesting to see if a similar thing could be done to get an uprightesque sound from an electric bass.

I think this would be an interesting challenge for you. I also think a lot of bass players would buy it, if it came close

Mixing analog, tube and digital is de rigueur these days so not the can I was thinking of. @Sushi Box FX covers that niche nicely.

FWIW The Zoom A1 Four has string bass emulation that is very good, especially using electric bass. I have used it on recordings with my fretless and EUB that fooled some savvy artists and producers.

If you’re willing to put in the time, you could maybe get a piezo equipped electric bass and a ToneDexter to sound like a double bass. With the caveat that you’re willing to put some serious time into your DAW to get it there with a good double bass audio sample.

I’ve done something similar with my Yamaha SLB300 and my normal old analog double bass. James has instructions on his website that are pretty straightforward.

3 Sigma actually offers upright bass IRs. Might be worth exploring. I need to try again, but I had found them a little noisy and weak with my Zeta electric upright.

Flan is fine but I prefer Tres Leches and Chuy's rocks it.

I use one of these to give some acoustic timbre to my “stick” bass.

3sigma acoustic bass IRs add some acoustic flavor to EUBs, works ok.

With respect… I don’t think that would make sense
The Venus including a cab sim is a super sensible idea - it allows the DI out to send an “amp and cab” to the PA - makes sense at the end of a pedal…

once you start getting into more in-depth IR applications and mimicking acoustic basses something like the cheap TC electronics Impulse pedal followed by a sushi more would get you there

I'm no flan man, nor do I play one on TB, but I enjoyed the pics.......a welcomed visual palate cleanser between sushi boxes.......now back to the main course......
