Yeah, I've found that whatever pedal combo (or non-pedal combo) that I add the MORE to, it just enhances the existing tone summation. It's just more of an already good thing!
In this case, MORE into the Ictineo.

Off Topic: How does the dirt on the OTE compare to the 5th Gear? I usually run my 5th Gear with the gain at noon and the heat all the way off for some subtle growl.
I believe all/some of the Fifth Gear circuit is in the ATE. So it's similar. ATE allows you to switch from, say, mild OD to aggressive OD with the footswitch.
My dirt chain:
ATE is basic dirt foundation — clean or dirty; blue or red: options are good!
Fifth Gear is for increased dirt (I mainly use it as a dirt boost).
MXR CBMOD is for dirt overload in combination with the ATE & Fifth Gear (rarely use it, but when I do…!!!).

I hope I've come to the right place to ask about the Particle Accelerator X preamp, this is my first Talkbass post after years of lurking so please let me know if posting here is ok or if i should be starting a new thread.
I was lucky enough to purchase the PA X second hand recently and it sounds great. I'm using it pretty much as a signal sweetener so EQ is set flat (0-10-0) however I'm having issues with noise when i turn up the master knob. I've read elsewhere about feeding the pedal 12v instead of 9v, but I've only got a 9v 1700ma supply at the moment.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue or know of a fix? @Sushi Box FX any ideas?
I can have the gain turned all the way up to 3:00 and the output level around 9ish and it operates quietly, but even if the gain is at 8:00 and output turned up to match unity, it introduces a high amount of noise.
I have tested the power supply into a few of my other pedals and checked all the input gain/ output levels, and they're all running quietly.
I'm running Passive P bass int into a Bergantino Forte with settings flat (gain around 9:00), any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It most likely has something to do with the polarity of the power inputs on the older Sushibox pedals. There is a fix for it. It is in this thread somewhere. I’m sure someone will have the page.
You can also send the pedal to Mr Sushi to do the fix.

Interesting, thanks i'll keep scouring through the thread. I tried for a a fair while but there's so much to go through haha.
I'm in Australia so i'll try avoid shipping if i can! I can't imagine it would be a cheap exercise

Alright this is a weird one, played with it for a few hours last night and did some recording/jamming to mostly random metal songs.
I found this one more unique than the UA or Slampegg. More immediate crossover between those two definitely. I had it set as close to flat as I could stomach, needed bass around 10 o’clock to better match the bypassed tone.
Ran into the front of my Magellan 800, been primarily using the clean channel but it felt too brittle with this pedal for some reason so I went to the drive side to help fill it out some.
The main thing is it made me want to embrace the scoop. Went active mode, played with a pick, used mid scoop contour on the amp as well. It is good for that pushed sizzle and scoop you’d want for slap bass imo.
Was very fun and different from the more warm and mid focused sounds I’ve been using for a few months. Not sure if its going to stay long term but it was worth a try.

i have a HW DR Watson and a UA. the DW (which is what the Elementary is based on) is definitely a brighter sounding preamp even with the treble CCW so i can see how it may have sounded "too brittle" on your clean channel.
I run mine with bass at noon, mids at three o’clock and treble at 9 o’clock. It’s definitely scooped, but not as much as the UA set at noon - max - noon, at least on paper.

It's been a minute since I've worked on anything new, but I do have a couple things I'm hoping to have ready for NAMM. This is the one that's on the bench tonight, getting ready to print/powdercoat/box up the first prototype.
Picked up a UA and an Elementary not long ago, and here's the overhauled board they're now a part of:
Atlas splits the signal. One path goes MBD2 (always on) > UA, the other goes into a Decibel 11 Loop Expander where the Demon, Scorpion, and ODB are routed (the Loop Expander is underneath the Scorpion/Demon), which then goes to the Elementary. Signals will blend at the H90 where the EQ2 is routed as an insert, but there's still some setup needed there.
I may rearrange/swap out some of the dirt pedals, but this setup sounds h e a v y.

I'm guessing it's a one tube more and the name is a throwback to the deep dish comp that more was originally part of.
